What You Can Expect

Blue Mountains Deluxe Small Group Eco Tour from Sydney

The Blue Mountains

After morning pickup at select central Sydney hotels, your small group travels in a comfortable minivan to the outskirts of Sydney. Stop to meet native Australian animals at Featherdale Wildlife Park with entrance to the park before it opens to the public, allowing you a more relaxed experience with the critters. You can hand-feed kangaroos, take a photo with the koalas, and observe the emus, wombats and crocodiles up close. If you have chosen to upgrade to the breakfast with koalas, you'll enjoy a continental breakfast as the animal handler allows you to get up close to the koalas.

Next, travel to a lookout where you can enjoy sweeping views of Jamison Valley before heading to Eaglehawk lookout to see the famous rock formation known as the Three Sisters. Your guide shares local Aboriginal legends about the formation and shows you the best spots for photo ops.

Stop for lunch in the town of Blackheath, where the Hydro Majestic Hotel sits overlooking Megalong Valley. You have the option to include a two-course lunch at the hotel restaurant, which features fine regional foods and sweeping views from large picture windows. Drinks are not included but can be purchased during lunch. Alternatively, your guide can recommend places to eat if you do not wish to include meals.

Continue exploring a number of scenic lookouts in the afternoon, including the celebrated Govetts Leap, which boasts great views of Bridal Veil Falls, a waterfall that cascades 590 feet (180 meters) down a forested cliff. Wrap up with a walk through the Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens Mt Tomah where you can see more than 40,000 types of cool climate plant species from gardens that overlook the Blue Mountains. Your tour ends with return to Sydney in the late afternoon.

The trip was one of the many highlights of our holiday in Australia. Our guide was excellent! He pitched it just right for our two adult children and us - he gave us plenty of information about the Blue Mountains as well as a bit of an insight into living in Australia.

Paul, our guide and van driver, was prompt in picking us up, friendly and knowledgeable. We choose this tour for its small size. It turned out that there were only six of us. Paul gave us a little extra time at Featherdale Wildflife Park which is a wonderful place. Fortunately, the weather was beautiful and we were able to see and experience all the sights. Lunch was good. We really enjoyed visiting the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden but wish there had been more time. A visit to Scenic World might be worthwhile but then there might be less time at Featherdale or a visit to the botanic garden.

Our driver/guide had a good sense of humor and was conscientious regarding the welfare of the group and kept us on time without our feeling rushed. Beautiful scenery and the sancutary visit afforded the opportunity to get some good animal photos. Highly recommended.
