What You Can Expect

Blue Mountains and Jenolan Caves Motorcoach Day Tour

Three Sisters, Blue Mountains

Your morning starts with pickup from select Sydney hotels and a scenic 1.5-hour drive into Blue Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Admire the century-old architecture in the pretty mountain town of Katoomba as your coach drives to a lookout at Echo Point. Disembark to take in sweeping views over Megalong Valley and the Three Sisters rock formations, one of the most famous pinnacles in this region of rugged canyons and craggy mountains. Your coach then follows the ridge while cruising along Cliff Drive, providing another perspective on the spectacular scenery.

Arrive at Jenolan Caves, the world's oldest open cave system, which stretches for more than 25 miles (40 kilometers), creating a fascinating subterranean world. Go underground with an expert local guide who takes you into parts of the cave made accessible to visitors with stairs, paths and dramatic lighting. Learn about the geology of the region as you walk through tall chambers lined with stalactites and stalagmites, and see the largest cave: Lucas Cave, where world-class concerts are held in the acoustically ideal Cathedral chamber. (The equally stunning Imperial Cave may be substituted for Lucas Cave at certain times of year).

After your otherworldly underground experience at Jenolan Caves, visit nearby Blue Lake, where the mineral-rich waters take on a rich blue hue in the sunlight. You might even spot a platypus in the waters; the shy creatures live here in the wild.

Your tour includes informative onboard commentary, and plenty of rest stops and photo ops. Return to Sydney in the late afternoon where your tour ends with drop-off at select hotels.

Mountains and Adventure Cave Tour:
Adventurous types can choose to add the Plughole Adventure Tour upgrade, a 2-hour caving experience in Jenolan Caves that includes a thrilling 30-foot (9-meter) abseil into Elder Cave. Then explore Elder Cave as your experienced guide shows you how to squeeze through chambers that get progressively longer, such as Window and Crystal chambers. Breathe easy in the open space of the Chapel, then snake through the Armchair Squeeze and Letterbox Squeeze. The S-bend through the Imperial Cave takes you back to the outside world. This tour includes expert instruction and all necessary safety equipment including harness, helmet, headlamp and overalls.
Please Note - if you choose the Plughole Adventure Tour, you forego the guided cave tour.*Please Note - if you choose the Plughole Adventure Tour, you forego the guided cave tour.

Great day, in spite of the weather. We we shown some amazing views over the Jamieson Valley, including of course, the Three Sisters. Our driver was informative and charming.
We were treated to some incredible sights as we wandered through the cave...amazing to think of the age of this spectacle and the fact that it is still evolving.
So glad we made the trip. It was worth it!
