What You Can Expect

Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Day Tour from Sydney

Wine Tasting

After morning pickup in Sydney, travel by air-conditioned coach for about two hours to reach the Hunter Valley, passing by the Hawkesbury River and an old convict-built road as your coach climbs into the hills.

The Hunter Valley has earned a reputation for great wine and food, making it a popular day tour from Sydney. With a knowledgable guide, you’ll make the most of your time and visit some of the best establishments in the valley.

During your tour, expect to stop at wineries such as Leogate Estate Wines and McGuigan Wines, in addition to enjoying a lunch feast at Hunter Valley Resort. The family-owned Leogate Estate Wines  produces excellent Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz as well as blends, Rose, Frizzante and low alcohol options. Established in the 1880's McGuigan Wines rates as an old-timer. It has also been named as the 'world’s best best winemaker' at least three times.

The Hunter Valley Resort extends across 70 secluded acres in the heart of Hunter Valley. View shiraz vineyards that have flourished there for decades as you dine on your choice of a fish, chicken, lamb or vegetarian lunch paired with wines that enhance your meal.

Learn about wine-making during a private tour of a vineyard, perhaps taste a flight of locally brewed beers and keep an eye out for wild kangaroos that your guide may be able to point out to your group.

Before returning to Sydney, stop at Hunter Valley Gardens for a leisurely stroll through their landscaped gardens. You can also peek at their gift shop, step into The Garden Cellars to taste additional wine, beer and liquor (own expense) or opt for coffee at one of the cafes if you have had enough wine for the day.

My wife and I went on this trip as we are lovers of a nice red wine. We were not disappointed. We tasted a mass variety of wines. red and white from a select few vineyards. The weather on the day was perfect and the Hunter valley scenery is really beautiful. The tour guide/driver was very jovial and friendly. The group was made up of a variety of nationalities, and we all got on very well. The lunch we were served was of good quality and very very tasty and plentiful. We would recommend this trip and have no complaints at all!

It was a bit of a drive to Hunter valley but aside from that, we had a good time. Each stop had a good number of wines to taste. The pours were a bit light, especially at the second winery, but they made up for it with the number of tastings. Lunch was good and they were able to provide a vegetarian option for my wife.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tour. The guide Henry was excellent and good company too. It is good to get a guide who knows his history and he made everyone feel at ease.
The Leogate winery was excellent and the food we had at lunch was the best we had in our 4 day visit to Sydney. I would have liked a bit more time at the last stop to enjoy the gardens and see more of the boutique shops but that would have been at the cost of the other stops which were so good. Can highly recommend this tour.
