I cannot praise this trip highly enough. Our guide Rae was brilliant, not only was she highly informative and professional, she was also great company and really good fun. The wine tasting at three separate winerys was exceptionally well organised, lunch was lovely and we were well looked after. I just wish I still had it all to look forward to again. They even managed to lay on a group of wild Kangaroos. Our group age range was 21 - 77 and we all had a great day. Well done Viator especially Rae.
Very enjoyable day, Mark the tour guide and driver was extremely informative, friendly, and efficient. The wineries visited were all different, and interesting in their wine philosophies. Our companions were from various countries: U.K., Austria, Scotland, NZ (us), and even a couple from Queensland. A very worthwhile day out.
excellent tour, visited some very good wineries . got told some very interesting facts about wine and how it is made, also tasted some great wines!!!, met some interesting people on this tour. if you like wine you will like this tour, also driver / guide was very friendly
It was a wet old day as we left Sydney, but that didn't dampen any spirits. Steve the tour guide was great. A real pro.
We visited four vineyards, tasted loads of wines, learnt masses about the wineries and the wine making process and all got delivered back to Sydney in time for tea.
The tour is awesome!! Tour guide is really enjoyable and will definitely join viator again!
Loved the tour and the wine was pretty amazing, too. Although it was a bit rainy and cold throughout the trip I still really enjoyed it. And Nigel, the tour guide, was pretty funny. Also enjoyed seeing Kangaroos in the wild at one of the wineries.
Our driver was very knowledgeable and witty. Thoroughly enjoyable trip . Especially liked the IronGate Winery !
What a wonderful, wonderful tour!
Our tour guide Mark was lovely, funny and knowledgeable in one. He took us to three excellent wineries (each one was so different and yet I found something I loved in each one). We also quickly visited a cheese factory and had lunch at the Hunter Valley Gardens. :)
this review is actually quite funny as when we were getting ready to go our driver Nigel (who i fell in love with explain later) i thought the poor guy was gonna go into cardiac arrest he was so stressed. so at first i was like well lets just drink anyway, and not bother with him, however he turned around 100% within the first 20 min of driving and was so funny....he took us around and we had a great day at the last winery we even danced on the terrace together. so Nigel if you read this, loved yourr swing music, and our brief terrace dance!!! One thing i did not enjoy was the second winery (will not name names) they were very pushy and all they cared about was the sale, they rushed us through the entire presentation and we werent allowed to look around, it was rotten .....but its all made up at the last winery with those ladies great wonderful women!!!!!!
wine farms visited excellent the cheese tasting was disappointing after a long days driving felt that his could have been left out _ only a small selection of cream cheese with different flavouring or it should be incorpoarted in a wine tasting the sandwich luncheon included was fine but had to wait a very long time for it a very pleasant days outing
One of the things to realize on the tours to Hunter Valley (and the Blue Mountains) is there is quite a bit of driving getting to and from the locations -- plus the amount of time for pick up and drop off. We were on the early side of pickup and the late side of drop off so there is a lot of transit time.
The wineries were quite interesting and varied. One of them did engage in an over much 'we are the best and do things the best' about their wines. Having been on a lot of wine tours I was rather less impressed with that approach. Ideally, it seems to me that small-group wine tours work best when they focus on smaller wineries that have a bit less sense of self-importance. The other stops fit that description quite well. Also, the cheese tasting, while rather rushed, was actually quite good. The guide seemed quite knowledgeable as well.
From the moment we were collected we were looked after, the driver/guide was very informative about the area and also about the wineries that we visited. At the winery the staff were very knowledgeable about the different wines they produce and put no pressure for us to buy anything. Our lunch was laid on at a pretty garden centre, the food arrived very quickly and was presented very well. Overall the whole day was A extremely satisfying. Alan and Eileen Raines. England
Great day tour. It was my first wine tasting. It was a nice size small group which made it a more personal experience. The tour guide Steve was a hoot! Funny and very knowledgeable about the region and the wineries. He also remembered everyone's name on the bus, which was amazing since we were like the united nations from all different countries and languages. We had a great time, made new friends and brought home wonderful memories and a few bottles of wine!
