Sydney Opera House Guided Walking Tour

Sydney Opera House Guided Tour

Your tour of the Sydney Opera House gives you an insider's perspective on one of the world’s most famous performance venues, where more than 1,500 concerts, ballets, musicals and plays are staged every year. Check out areas that are off-limits to the general public, learn about the distinctive exterior design made up of ‘shell’ tiles, and hear about opera house’s Danish architect, including his inspiration and building challenges. Walk through the elegant foyers, visit one of the largest pillar-free chambers in the world, sit down in a custom-made white birch chair and look up at the vaulted ceiling.

Explore in depth during your 1-hour tour with a knowledgeable guide, who shares fun facts about the opera house’s history, architecture and the thousands of performances that have taken place there since it opened in 1973.

This tour was very interesting, and the concert halls themselves were fantastic and so beautiful! I had no idea how big the Opera House actually is, from the outside it seems smaller. I loved learning about the history of the Opera House and the techniques used in building it, our guide was very informative. A must do, especially considering that the Opera House is pretty much Sydney's icon.

Amazing view of the inside of the opera house. Got to sit inside a small auditorium that was showing Merchant of Venice. Sat in the largest auditorium as well. Tour guide was kind of rushed and the group was constantly moving. Opera house souvenirs were much more expensive than the exact same ones available at the convenience store or other markets. Would recommend buying souvenirs elsewhere for a fraction of the cost.

The Sydney Opera House is a must see! TV and photos don't do it justice. It's an amazing structure and the history behind building it was very interesting.
