What You Can Expect

Sydney Taronga Zoo General Entry Ticket and Wild Australia Experience

Red Tailed Phascogale

After making your way across Sydney Harbour, you have two transport options to arrive at the main entrance of the zoo at the top of the hill. Either hop on the complimentary shuttle bus or gondola. The gondola glides over the animal enclosures, providing a preview of the orangutans, Asian elephants and other critters from above. When you arrive at the entrance, meet your zoo keeper guide and begin your Wild Australia tour.

During your tour, you get to meet a number of animals and take a peek into the inner workings of the zoo. Stop at a zoo kitchen and learn how the staff prepares meals for the critters’ various diets. Follow your guide into the restricted area at the Australian Nightlife exhibit to observe nocturnal creatures that are difficult to spot in the wild. Then hand-feed kangaroos, wallabies and emus; pose for photos with koalas inside their enclosure; and learn about wildlife habitat and conservation projects from your expert guide. Discover the iconic creatures of the Australia, including echidnas, platypus, wombats and bilbies as you explore the zoo on this fascinating tour.

After your tour, enjoy complimentary light refreshments at the zoo’s Harbourview Cafe, which boasts spectacular views over Sydney Harbour Bridge and beyond. You’ll also receive a souvenir gift and have the rest of the day to explore Taronga Zoo at your leisure.

Amazing! Got up close with several animals including the wallabies and our tour guide was great. This is well worth the extra money and they take a good portion of the profits to go back to care for the animals.

Highlight of Sydney. The behind the scenes tour was the best. Seeing the Koalas up close was unbelievable. Feeding the wallabies was also fun. Guide was very knowledgeable.

I really really loved this tour. I went over on he ferry and up to the entrance in the gondola which was fun. Met Robert a very experienced and knowledgeable guide who took 4 of us to see lots of weird and wonderful creatures of Australia. We were able to handle many of them and see them in their houses. This was a very special and enjoyable tour. Had a snack at midday with the guide then spent the rest of the day looking round the rest of the zoo. The giraffes have a wonderful view of Sydney harbour!

This is an amazing zoo. We very much enjoyed the behind the scenes look at the animals, including a baby koala, tasmanian devil, wallabies, kangaroo, emu, and many, many more. Our tour guide was enthusiastic and informative. The zoo itself is inviting and the animals seem to be healthy and happy given that they are in this type of setting. The views of Sydney from here are amazing, particularly from the giraffe habitat. Definitely recommend including this tour!

One of the highlights of our trip was the behind the scene Wild Australian Experience.
Up close and personal with and experienced guide and the small group made it much more enjoyable.
I would suggest this to all visitors.

This is the tour I tell folks to book when visiting Sydney. Highly recommended small group tour of the Taronga Zoo! My husband and I enjoyed the behind the scenes / close encounters / personal guided tour of the koalas, feathertail glider, echidna, duckbill platapus, Tasmanian devil, wallabies, food preparation and much more. The tea and lemon desert were very tasty. After the tour we had fun visiting the zoo especially the aviary as it was fun to relax and watch the colorful curious birds. Awesome zoo with very nice hosts and guides.

This tour was amazing! Our tour guide was very enthusiastic about showing us around the zoo, and the fact that there was only 3 people in the group made it even better. It allows you to see a completely different side of the zoo that the general public normally wouldn't get to experience, and you get up close and personal with several different animals. One of the best days of my trip by far, highly recommend doing the tour.

The tour was excellent and well worth the money. It was very informative. The zoo was very good as well. It looks like it's very large but it really isn't that large. Be aware that you have to take a ferry to the zoo so you need to leave plenty of time to get there.

Excellent experience with Jen, personal tour with a very small group of people. Allowed up close encounters with the Australian animals, only way to start your day at the Taronga zoo.
