This was well worth the money to have the opportunity to see animals behind the scenes - especially the koalas. You are in a small group so there is a lot of one-on-one time. I would recommend this to anyone with kids also.
This is definitely the way to see the zoo and I thought the price was great considering it included admission, the gondola, etc. And it was quite a thrill to be able to spend time in the koala enclosure and I appreciate that the zoo does not allow people to touch these wild animals--a big reason I selected this zoo rather than other wildlife experiences. Our guides were friendly and helpful and I highly recommend this excursion.
I would definitely recommend this tour. We took the Ferry from Circular Quay 25 round trip for the day including subway
Very efficient information and great tour guides!

The personalized tour was so amazing! I truly highly recommend this. The volunteer's were so knowledgable and friendly. I enjoyed the behind the scenes access that also came with the tour. I learned a lot about the zoo and the Australian animals. I would do this tour again. I don't think you'd be disappointed in booking this tour.
It was wonderful. I recommend it to everyone.
Excellent tour with knowledgeable and friendly guides!!

Tour was excellent! Guides are volunteers at the zoo, so the tour operator is the zoo. You get close up access to many animals and can actually touch some, but not koala bears unfortunately. The tour guides work at the info booth when they are not touring, so they are very knowledgeable about the zoo. This tour is shorter than the other one, but it takes you only to the Australian animals. You can see elephants anywhere, so why waste extra time walking around this very large and hilly zoo? By the way, the 90 minute tour was really 135 minutes for us, and the guide walked my wife and I to several other animal venues and showed us how to exit after the tour was over.
Volunteers were excellent and it was good to be close to the animals and get extra information about native species. Love Australian animals!
The gold tour of the Zoo was amazing. We had two superb guides, Barbara and Gordon, who took us behind the scenes and introduced us personally to many of the inhabitants. Also included was a visit to the kitchen where much of the food was prepared. It is the best way to really understand and appreciate how much work goes into running it and how much they do to support endangered species. An absolute must. The only downside was the ski safari was closed for maintenance but it did not detract from our enjoyment.
