This was one of the best tours I took in Taiwan and am really glad I decided to do the overnight. The guide was very very nice and friendly and even allowed all of the members of the tour group to decide if we wanted to do a boat ride on the Sun Moon Lake which was a nice treat! I would have felt like my trip was not complete had I not gotten to do so!!!
Great tour - we learned allot from our tour guide David. He was a very kind and informative tour guide and he even took our pictures for us. He was right on time for pick up and he answered every question we had. Sun Moon Lake made this tour worth it. The lake is absolutely beautiful, our tour guide let us take the boat from the other side of the lake and met us at the hotel, which was a great experience. The next day, we were taken to a couple more temples and was given some time to go shopping and walk around. We did not feel rushed at all. On our way back from Taipei we had not booked a hotel ahead of time, but David offered to help us find one until we were satisfied. We enjoyed this tour, but the only thing I would complain about is that we did not stop by the Guangxing Paper Factory.
Amazing tour. Very lovely area. The hotel and city were a lot of fun. Nothing special about Lukang. They put you on a train to come back. Ours was delayed but they were waiting for us in Taipei. No problems. Well worth it and would definitely recommend it.
This was an excellent tour! Great mix of temples, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the lake, trying different foods, and learning about the history of Taiwan. Tour guide was also great. Would definitely do it again.
We highly recommend this tour. Felix(Lao) our tour guide was very accommodating and knowledgeable. The hotel and breakfast were superb! We enjoyed the Sun Moon lake and Pagoda, the temples and most of all the street food at Lukang. We happened to be in Lukang on a holiday so there were many people and food vendors lining the streets.
5 stars experience!
My wife and I had a enjoyable time during our recent trip. The guide was very professional and informative. This make the tour memorable although we had been to Taiwan a few times recently. The service and lodging was excellent. Hope to engage more Viator dealings in the future.
Overall the tour was enjoyable and informative except for the visit to Stop at the Guangxing Paper Factory to witness the elaborate process of creating handmade paper. Our guide told us that it was not included in the tour. The Sun Moon Lake Hotel sitting on the edge of the Lake was peaceful and enjoyable especially in the evening and at night and the dinner food was above average.
Thoroughly enjoyed this 2 day tour. I expected a big bus but it was just the 2 of us. The guide was knowledgeable and very friendly and his English was good.

For the limited time frame, I enjoyed the trip a lot!
The hotel by the lake is absolutely beautiful!
Interesting tour - good to see the centre of Taiwan too. I would have liked our tour to lead the sunrise walk from the hotel in the morning in English, instead of the complimentary Mandarin tour that the hotel did. The sunrise over the lake in the morning was the highlight of the tour - I can't believe it isn't on this itinerary!
Our guide James and driver Jason were excellent! James' knowledge of Chinese and European history was very impressive. Stopping at the Puli brewery for wine tasting was fun. The Tehua Village home of the Ito people was very educational and the beauty and craftsmanship of Wenwu temple was astonishing. Of course Sun Moon Lake was as beautiful as advertised, and the shore walk was gorgeous. Some great food along the way too! Highly recommended!
Jack was such a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide! We very much enjoyed all the stops and the nature we were able to enjoy on this trip. I only wish we could have stayed longer than the two days!
The tour guide was so informative and so expert in the historical of places that he showed to us. His English is very good. We also were so surprised with his stamina when escorting us climb up to place where Cih-en Pagoda located.
Great tour, staff very flexible with requests and knowledgeable about the locations we visited.
Hotel Del Largo was 5 star!
Quite rushing on the way back to Taipei. Otherwise good hotel and food.
This tour was good but would have probably been better with slightly better weather whilst at sun moon lake - oh well. The second day of the tour and Michael the tour guide were fabulous.
The write up stated we'd visit a paper-making shop. It quickly became apparent that we were going to a rice wine factory instead. :-(
Luckily the guide let us do our own thing at Sun Moon Lake (biking) which saved the trip.
I have been an avid viator fan, since I first discovered it a few years ago. Compared to my previous tours booked through viator, this has perhaps been the only and most disappointing one - particularly for how much it cost to book this 2-day tour. All the places that we visited were essentially free to the public and no additional excursions were planned to enhance this experience. I could have just as easily booked a bullet train through the MRT in Taiwan to arrange my own transportation and booked a hotel for less money and still would have been able to visit all the exact same sights.
I would consider expanding the options for this tour - such as arranging a boat trip, biking excursion, and/or meals at nicer restaurants. If meals are not going to be included in this tour as they were not, I would shave off some money on this rather expensive tour. It was certainly just okay and could have been a lot better. I would not recommend attending this tour unless some changes are made.
The drives were too long and boring.
There were not much worth seeing in my books.
I would not have gone if I knew!
