Really great tour, should be the first thing you do in Takayama, Masayo was super friendly and knowledgeable, you get to try so many different types of food and go to some pretty unique spots.

Awesome tour. We learned so much about the food and Matsuo went out of his way to help us find specific foods we were looking for. We had lots of fun and would recommend this tour to anyone in Takayama!

A great opportunity to learn about Takayama's food culture with a native. We got to the see the market and a number of specialty shops. Had the opportunity to find out about and taste more things than we would likely to have on our own, because guide was able to explain what things were to us and ask questions on our behalf.

A great, personal tour with a knowledgeable guide who was more than fluent in English. The start location tour office was easy to find. Only my daughter and I were booked on the tour so it was lovely not having a crowd to contend with. Our guide appeared to know everyone in the town and was patient with our foodie questions. Would thoroughly recommend this tour.

If you are in Takayama you need to do this tour. It was a well planned route covering lots of different cultural hotspots and some great food. My mind was changed about tofu on this tour, if only I could get the tofu from the shop we went to here in Australia.

Whether you have a sweet tooth or enjoy savoury, this tour will have you covered. The guide we had, Hisa, was very knowledgeable and fun, and spoke good english. The whole team at Satoyama Experience were fantastic and made Takayama/Hida the highlight of our trip.

Really enjoyed this tour. I was the only person on the tour so had the chance to chat to the excellent guide, Hisa. We visited a number of shops and businesses in Takayama, tasting products and meeting local people. Hisa knew everybody, including a number of market stall holders, and made it a fascinating morning.

Takayama is a lovely place. I could have wondered around the charming town on my own, but it would have been meaningless. I learned about and met the wonderful proprietors. Developed deep appreciation for their country lifestyles, generational histories, and extreme kindness. I highly recommend this tour.

A worthwhile experience with some interesting places visited. We learnt a lot about miso, sake, tofu and other products and our guide was lovely.
