Tallinn Hop-On-Hop Off Bus
, Sep 2019
Overall, the bus was a convenient way to go through the city and suburbs. I would have preferred the buses running every 30 minutes versus having to wait an hour to catch a bus to get back to our ship.
Cruise terminal stop not made clear

This is the RED BUS company. The stop "near" the cruise port is a block and a half from the port entrance in an unspecified location, plus quite a long walk through the port itself. Since extended walks are a problem for me, it would have been better for us to get an excursion with the orange-red Hop-on-Hop off buses that actually come inside the cruise ship port. They are from another company and drivers won't tell you exactly where to get the competitor's Red Bus. We had hoped that by taking the three intersecting one-hour circle tours, we could avoid extensive walking, and not necessarily go inside the Medieval city. But not knowing where the bus stop was, we wandered in stages (glad I brought my folding stool) toward where everyone else went. On a major street outside the walls we finally saw a Red Bus pass and eventually made our way to one of its bus stops (marked but not too obviously) when a Red Bus was there. The driver took our Viator paper and gave us tickets, map, and earphones. The bus took us to Vira Market where the three circle tours begin every twenty minutes. We rode for two different circles but not the one I really wanted which went more out in the country. The commentary in English was almost overly thorough about Talinn. A male American voice was clearer to us over the noise of the bus than the female voice with a British accent. We decided to get off at the cruise port for the rest rooms there and then made the hike back in to the ship for lunch. We thought about going back out for the third circle but didn't have the energy or interest. If we had taken an excursion to the Medieval town, we would have had to walk around, but probably not as far as we use the Red Bus. For us, seeing the place from the Red Bus was better than just staying on the ship, but without directions to the "nearby" bus stop, getting to the bus was exhausting enough to keep us from stopping anywhere or doing the third circle.
Great service

April visit, check the opening times of the venues you wish to visit, if they’re closed it’s an hour to wait for the next bus. So, complete the circuit and choose where to get off. But a great way to see the area, I loved it!
Great value

HOHO Bus is the way to go in Tallin. You can get off and explore the places that interest you and it covers three different routes. The best thing was it picked us up right at the cruise port!

The bus did not turn up - we were assured we were waiting at the right stop and waited 45 minutes and then asked at the information centre at the port - they seemed to know very little and couldn't help us. Eventually we decided not to waste any more of our few hours in Tallin and walked to the old town but would have seen much more of Tallin had the bus showed up

The Tallinn HOHO Bus went well. There were 3 bus routes and we took all 3 of them, getting a very good idea of what Tallinn is like. The bus we stayed on one bus which changed route traveled to after each line changed. I would recommend this tour to anyone with a short time to see Tallinn.

Although there are 3 different routes on this tour, we opted only to take the one around the forest area, which was well worth the trip.

One of the routes we took ended up in a traffic jam.....the route wasn't very good anyway, but wasted our valuable time. The first route around the main part of the city was very good.
