Overview

  • Tallinn guided walking tour of Old Town
  • Enjoy free time to explore on your own
  • Port pickup and drop-off included
  • Small-group tour ensures personalized attention
Meet your coach outside the cruise terminal gates for the drive to Toompea Hill in central Tallinn. From this overlook you'll have picturesque views over the towers and red-tile rooftops in the Estonian capital's lower town.

Start your walking tour at Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, built in the Russian Orthodox–style of Moscow's 17th-century churches. Marvel at the mosaic-filled interior, then follow your guide through narrow, cobbled streets to St. Mary's Cathedral. You can opt to pay a nominal fee to enter the13th-century domed church, one of Estonia's oldest.

Descend to the Town Hall Square for a look at the imposing Tallinn Town Hall, a Gothic structure completed in 1404. Stroll through the cobblestone walkway of St. Catherine’s Passage, sprinkled with artist studios and a collection of medieval tombstones located next to Dominican Monastery Claustrum. Learn from your guide about the Walls of Tallinn, 16th-century fortifications that comprised Tallinn’s elaborate defense system.

The guided portion of your tour ends on Viru Street by the Viru Gates. You'll have free time in Old Town to shop or eat before the drive back to the cruise port.

Tallinn Walking Tour with Free Time and Port Transfers

Our tour was most enjoyable even though the weather was a bit cooler than average. Our tour guide (Erik) was easy going, very knowledgeable and his English was excellent. He was frequently taking head count to make sure all were always in the group and when we did have some free time, he was clear on where and when to meet. I would highly recommend this tour and guide!

Good way to spend a couple of hours in Tallinn, especially if arriving by Ship.

We loved this walking tour, as it also provided port transfers, which were needed as we weren't close enough to walk. The actual walking tour was insightful, we learnt a great deal. We also loved that we had free time before we had to meet back to get the port transfer back to the ship. The cost was quite good too.

Just ok, but not worth the money

Our small group of six people was just the right size for the tour. We were picked up promptly, and rode on a large bus along with another tour group. The guide was helpful and informative. After three hours, we were given two hours of free time. This was way too much time (30 minutes would have been plenty). The guide could have taken us to more places and given information during that time. This tour should be adjusted to be either shorter in duration or include more places or even entrance into some attractions. Given the short walk to/from the cruise pier and how small the city of Tallinn is, we could have seen these sights for free.

Great tour in Tallinn with a very knowledgeable guide- Loved the city and all the sites . Great meal at a restaurant recommended by our guide and it was nice to have the free time to explore a bit on our own around the old city and the markets . Estonia is certainly a place I would like to go back and explore again . Thanks for the great experience .

We visited Tallnn as part of a Holland America lines Baltic tour. The meeting point was just outside of the tour terminal, a very short walk from the ship. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather for the day, and our tour guide Alex was excellent. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and he kept us moving. The old town of Tallinn is neat, and the view from the hill overlook the city is not to be missed. We saw exactly what people who booked tours through the ship did, at a significantly reduced price. Highly recommended.

We were picked up at the cruise port and driven to the upper town. Our excellent guide, Kadi walked us through the upper town and filled us in on the history of Estonia. The views from the upper town are spectacular. As we made our way to the lower town, she walked us through a summer garden exhibition. During the tour we learned about life in Estonia- the mid summer holiday is a major event, and the language. At the end of the tour we had time for food and shopping.

Excellent walking tour, with a small group of 8. Guide Senile did an excellent job at communicating the feelings of topical issues for Estonians. Bus transfer from ship to first point of walking tour, and back to ship was seamless. About 2 hours on our own to find a delightful coffee and pastry shop and to walk the city wall.
