Not really a food tour
, Mar 2020
Our guide was very nice and knowledgable but this tour lasted far too long. We were hungry, hot, and tired after walking in the sun for 3 hours so we left the tour early in search of a real meal. In 3 hours we only visted three restaurants which gave small portions. The food was mediocre. There was not much food involved on this "food tour." It was more of a historical walking tour, which is fine but it should be advertised as such. Would not recommend as a food tour. Would not recommend for children or people who would dehydrate quickly.
I have been on other food tours through Viator so I have something to compare against. This tour had so many problems I don't know where to start. 1 The scheduled start time at booking was 12:30PM. I received a text the morning of the tour indicating the tour was going to start at 2:30PM. No reason given, the weather was fine. I truly believe since we were the only 2 people on this tour for that day the start time was changed to get us to cancel. The food portion consisted of 1st stop - 2 chicken wings, 2nd stop - one slice of cheese pizza, 3rd stop - very tiny Cuban sandwich, 4th stop - beans and rice. We did not get to the 5th stop because we had started so late the restaurant WAS CLOSED for the day so we were handed a bag with desert in it. You can do way better by stopping at the Ybor history center, watching the film like we did on the tour it's free walk to the points of interest and then have a nice meal for about half the price charged for the tour. I rarely complain but this tour is a rip off. Totally dissatisfied!
Loved the food! Don't eat before you go sounds obvious, but been told on multiple food tours that people do that and can't finish anything on the tour Took down all the restaurants to re-visit in the future.
