Swim with the Sharks at the Florida Aquarium

The 250,000-square-foot Florida Aquarium is one of the top aquariums in the country, with over 20,000 sea creatures, including sharks, otters, alligators and many more. On this 30-minute simulated scuba diving expedition, learn to swim with the sharks at the Florida Aquarium.

During this introduction to scuba diving, visitors experience the thrill of underwater diving in a controlled environment from the surface of the sparkling, clear water. Just strap on a small scuba tank, a regulator and a floatation device (all provided) to stay on the surface of the water while enjoying all the sights a coral reef has to offer.

The Coral Reef Gallery at the Florida Aquarium simulates an actual reef in the Dry Tortugas National Park near Key West, FL. This manmade reef is home to a wide variety of marine life like stingrays, lobsters, puffer fish, eels and tiger sharks. See them up close while friends and family watch from the outside on the exhibit’s pathway.

Participants must be at least nine years old and be comfortable in the water. Children who are under nine years old must have a paying in-water parent or guardian participating. This excursion can accommodate up to five swimmers at a time. No previous training or experience is necessary. All Florida Aquarium dive team members are professionally trained to supervise recreational diving activities.

Highly recommend this trip, I have my open water diving but my husband had never dived before, we did have problem getting in as I did not print off the email just showed it on my phone, the staff were very helpful and took time sorting it out, we had instructions on scuba diving and then practiced in the small tank with the fishes and then went into the big tank with the sharks we had loads of photos taken and the diver videoed the dive for us and I also took in my pro camera, the sharks swam all round us and underneath us, so close, it was amazing, would definitely do this trip again, loved it!

I booked this tour as a surprise for our 20th wedding anniversary. It was spectacular! I am not a huge fan of swimming next to sharks and quite fond of my appendages but the staff quickly put my worries at ease. This is by far, the most memorable part of our entire vacation.
