What You Can Expect

Masada and the Dead Sea Day Trip from Tel Aviv

Visit the Dead Sea on this private day trip from Tel Aviv

Start your day trip with a pickup from your central Tel Aviv hotel. Settle into your air-conditioned coach and travel into the Judean desert, the rugged wilderness in the heart of Israel.
Enjoy the views of the desert, and pass the site of the Inn of the Good Samaritan. Then, get glimpses of the Dead Sea as you approach Masada, a mountain topped by a ruined fortress-palace built by King Herod more than 2,000 years ago.
Ride the cable car to the mountaintop and take a guided tour of the fascinating archaeological ruins. Soak up the awesome views as you inspect the crumbled remnants and hear about the site’s history.
Descend the mountain and drive to the Dead Sea past the Ein Gedi oasis and ancient settlement of Qumran. Stop to enjoy views of the famous Qumran caves, where approximately 900 ancient parchments, many incorporating the earliest known manuscripts of the Bible were discovered - the fabled Dead Sea Scrolls.
Continue to the Dead Sea and enjoy roughly two hours to relax on a mineral beach. This salt-rich lake sits at around 1,312 feet (400 meters) below sea level — the Earth’s lowest point. Wade into the waters to experience the bizarre floating sensation, enjoy a therapeutic mud bath, and if you wish, take the opportunity to buy some rejuvenating Dead Sea skin products (own expense) at duty free prices.
Afterward, return to your coach and pass the ancient city of Jericho as you travel back to Tel Aviv, where your trip ends at your hotel.

The wonderful views from the top of the mountain at Massada, the heroic history of the Massada rebels and the unique experience of floating in the Dead Sea makes for a great one day trip from Tel Aviv.

Fantastic tour with our wonderful tour guide Talia. Masada is a must see for everyone visiting Israel as it is truly a stunning historical and geographical side. The one downside to the tour, and most tours with this company, are the small buses, which seemed to be made for midgets, as they were very uncomfortable for anyone over 180cm.

Liat is a fantastic guide who is very passionate about her job. She ensured we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The bus captain and Liat even made pit stops along the way to capture some memorable pictures. I will definitely book other tours with her team when I am back to Israel.

Great tour. Masada was by far the highlight for me. The only negative is that the tour was in English and Spanish so everything had to be repeated twice... This definately added to the time on top of the mountain and cut into our Dead Sea time.

The Dead Sea was interesting as a place you have to say you have seen before it disappears completely but the spa we stopped at certainly didn't give off a luxury vibe. As mentioned above, we didn't end up having much time at The Dead Sea because we took so much time at Masada. That worked for me but I know people were disappointed they didn't have a bit more time to float and do the mud treatments. I was happy just to dip my feet in for 10 minutes... Which did wonders for my dried and cracked feet!!!

One tip for the Dead Sea part of the tour is to bring cheap flip flops that you don't mind getting salt on... The shoreline and the surface under the water is totally crystallized and painful to walk on with bare feet.
