Meet your guide at your south Tenerife beach resort and travel by coach along the island’s southwest coast. After stopping to admire the mighty sea cliffs of Los Gigantes, which reach heights of up to 1,640 feet (500 meters), continue through the Erjos Mountains, passing through the village of Santiago del Teide en-route.
Learn more about Tenerife’s otherworldly landscapes, shaped by its volcanic history, as you look up at the mighty peak of Mount Teide and jump out to explore the mountain plateau. After snapping photos of the unusual rock formations and multi-hued cliffs in the Teide National Park, continue north to the village of El Tanque.
Hear how the village was damaged by a volcanic eruption back in 1706 as you gaze out over the spectacular landscapes from the Mirador de Garachico lookout point. Then, visit the mountain town of Icod de los Vinos, where the star attraction is the 72-foot (22-meter) tall Dragon Tree, estimated to be around 3,000 years old.
The next stop is picturesque La Orotava, where you’ll have chance to stroll the cobbled lanes, marvel at the colonial architecture and browse the many art and handicrafts shops. After purchasing some souvenirs (own expense), enjoy a brief photo stop at Mirador de Humbolt, before finishing the day in the pilgrimage town of Candelaria, known for its Black Madonna.
After an action-packed full-day itinerary, you’ll be transferred back to your south Tenerife beach resort.
