Make your own way to the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, which is located on the campus of West Texas A&M University, in Canyon, Texas just a few miles from Amarillo and Palo Duro Canyon.
The museum is housed in a handsome art deco building with floor-to-ceiling windows. Inside, you can gaze up at a giant oil derrick and check out the log-cabin in the backyard. The museum is known as the largest history museum in Texas and one of the premier museums in the United States.
More than two million artifacts are gathered in the collections, which include fine art, maps, guns, textiles, dinosaurs, saddles, farm equipment, oil exploration equipment and more.
