Overview

Ride the bullet train from Beijing to Tianjin on this privately guided full-day tour. You'll see several highlights in China's fourth largest city, including the Porcelain House, colonial buildings of the Five Great Avenues (Wudadao), the Tianjin Eye, and Ancient Culture Street (Gu Wenhua Jie). Hotel transport, lunch, and train fare are included.
  • Private day trip from Beijing to Tianjin
  • Visit major highlights like the Five Great Avenues
  • Entrance fees and lunch included
  • Second-class train fare and hotel transport provided
  • Private guide for a more personalized experience
In the morning your personal guide will collect you from your centrally located hotel in Beijing; it's a quick drive to the railway station. Take a second-class seat aboard a bullet train for the 30-minute ride to Tianjin, located about 85 miles (137 km) away.
On arrival, you'll transfer to a private vehicle or taxi to the Porcelain House, the first stop on your itinerary. This French-style colonial villa was built in the 1920s and its exterior is covered with shards of porcelain. Inside you'll find a museum of antiques including crystal, marble carvings, and semi-precious gems collected by the owner.
Next, head to Wudadao, aka the Five Great Avenues, home to more than 2,000 garden-style villas built during colonial occupations. Get a closer look at the architectural wonders with an optional horse-drawn carriage ride (own expense).
Get an introduction to Tianjin's cuisine over lunch provided at a local restaurant. Then take a spin on the Tianjin Eye, a modern-day landmark. From the highest point of the Ferris Wheel you can see views stretching as far as 25 miles (40 km) into the distance.
Ancient Culture Street is your final stop. At Tianjin's top shopping destination for traditional Chinese goods, you'll find dozens of shops selling items, from embroidery and calligraphy to tea sets and figurines.
From here, you'll return to the Tianjin Railway Station and board a bullet train back to Beijing. Your guide will then transfer you back to your hotel.

We booked this tour primarily to experience the bullet train, and see a different city during a short day trip. Tianjin has a very different vibe from Beijing, and we enjoyed trying the street food and seeing the Porcelain house. Our guide Hellen was friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable about China. Unfortunately the Eye was not open, so we did not get a chance to ride it. However we really enjoyed spending the day with Hellen, and learning more about different cities in China. She was a wonderful tour guide!

Lisa our guide picked us up in our hotel at 8 am and was by far our favorite guide of our whole trip! She really knew how too navigate the cities and train station using cars and taxi services to get it done. THis tour is great for people in Beijing for awhile and want to experience a different city. The bullet train is an experience in it self but we had already done a bullet train so we were old pros. Tianjin is a much nicer city than Beijing and much more laid back and less chaotic. The porcelain house is amazing and we really enjoyed the Tianjin eye. We had lunch at a Hot Pots which my wife really wanted to try and Lisa our guide was more than accommodating. We really had a nice day with Lisa who sat on the train with us and we exchange points about our cultures which is my favorite part of traveling. My suggestion if you book this tour to request Lisa as she is amazing!
