Stop At:
Buccoo Reef
Buccoo Reef is possibly Tobago's most famous tourist attraction. We can arrange a tour with one of the best glass bottom boat tour operators. It is the most easily accessible coral reef in the Caribbean and is a protected marine park. This captivating underwater world is home to many different varieties of aquatic fauna and flora. Parrot fish, butterfly fish, angel fish, damsel fish, wrasses, grunts and blennies are among the 70 different species that have been identified darting through the waving sea fans and dazzling sponge. They feed on a wide variety of colourful algae of reds, greens and blues. Staghorn and elkhorn coral, star coral, little coral, fire coral, brain coral and finger coral also grow in abundance on the reef. You can see most of these through the glass bottom of the boat whilst being informed about them by your guide, or you can just as easily go snorkeling.

Nylon Pool
A visit to Buccoo Reef would not be complete without a dip in the famous Nylon Pool - so named, according to local legend, by Princess Margaret who couldn't contain her delight. A natural saltwater pool surrounded by the coral reef, this charming marine spectacle fascinates visitors with its surprisingly shallow (3-4 feet), translucent waters and dazzling white sand. It’s also said that it has rejuvenating powers as you feel 30 years younger after a swim in the Nylon Pool.

Beautiful snorkeling however...

This was an okay excursion. The snorkeling was very good, but we had very limited time to do so. The boat was mostly full by the time we got picked up at Pigeon Point, so we didn't really have a chance to look out the glass bottom. The majority of people on board weren't snorkeling, which is probably why they cut our time short. They also went to No Man's Land which takes time and isn't on the itinerary. Crew was professional but not very friendly. The Nylon Pool was very cool but overall you might want to find a different tour that is more focused on snorkeling.

Good day, thank you for your review! We appreciate feedback like this as it helps us improve our product. This excursion was operated during a busy period and some of the boats are not available for mechanical reasons so this is why a lot of the boats are full on the tours - we are looking into decreasing capacity in busy periods like this to avoid having our guests on crowded boats. We are also looking into creating a more snorkelling-focused tour. I apologize that the tour was not as you would have liked it to be. We hope you can return when we have worked out these kinks. Thank you again for your review!

While the reef tour itself was good, the Nylon Pool was by far the best part of the cruise! Our guides were very laid-back, helpful, and courteous. Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to Tobago!

Ship was late letting us off because of immigration. When we got outside gates, no one waiting even though I rang the day before to confirm. Eventually we found a representative of Trinidad and Tobago Sightseeing Tours who then sorted out the transport because their man was stuck in traffic. The taxi who took us to the boat came and picked us up and returned us to the port. Boat ride was great with lots of information about the reef and fish. Drinks and nibbles were provided. However when we got back to port the head of the taxi group wanted me to pay for the taxi. After much heated discussion and his realisation I was not going to pay I left him to sort it out with Trinidad and Tobago Sightseeing.

Great but only problem was that I did not receive any joining instructions. I only managed to find tour because a kind taxi driver took pity on me and made several phone calls for me.

Excellent. Guide met us at pier head as promised. Unfortunately, sea was choppy with strong current, so snorkelling was limited. (Only strong swimmers). View from glass-bottomed boat was great.
