Start the day with 9am pickup at your hotel in Todos Santos, then enjoy views of dry arroyos, cactus forests, and quiet swaths of desert during the 75-minute drive to a family-owned ranch. Upon arrival at the ranch, meet Doña Ramona, who will lead a group pottery class, sharing stories about her life in the mountains as you shape the clay, which is harvested nearby.
The next stop of the day is the ranch’s traditional kitchen, where you will learn the secrets of shaping tortillas Baja-style. Sit down to a lunch of “ranchero” dishes that are steeped in old fashioned Baja food ways—and accompany your meal with the hot-off-the-griddle tortillas you made.
After lunch, take a tour of Doña Ramona’s ranch to learn more about life in the Baja desert, visiting Doña Ramona’s pottery kiln, and a tiny chapel that hosts a traveling priest two times each month. If time permits, you may have the option to visit a few of Doña Ramona’s neighbors before heading back to Todos Santos, where this tour concludes with hotel drop-off between 2pm and 3pm.
