This half-day tour combines Kitakata’s cuisine with its rich history and culture. Visit an Edo-style sake brewery to learn about the brewing process of Japan’s national drink; feast on ramen noodles at a traditional restaurant; satisfy your sweet tooth in a Japanese candy shop; and browse handmade crafts at a lacquerware store. This small-group tour is limited to six guests to maintain an intimate atmosphere.
  • Half-day food and culture tour of Kitakata
  • Learn about sake brewing at a sake brewery and sample different varieties in a Japanese garden
  • Sample ramen noodles and Japanese candy
  • Upgrade to a private tour to travel in a personal vehicle and receive undivided attention from a guide
Your tour begins in late morning outside of Kitikata Station, where you’ll greet your guide and head straight to an Edo-style sake brewery. Learn about the brewery’s special variety of sake, made using water from an underground river, before enjoying Kitikata ramen for lunch.

After lunch, visit a modern sake brewery to taste rice wine in its Japanese garden. The next stop is a Japanese candy shop, where you’ll have the chance to sample sweet treats such as yokan (jellied dessert made of azuki bean paste) and manju (steamed bun).

Once you’ve satisfied your sweet tooth, discover the unique brewing process of another sake brewery, where the wine is created to Mozart’s music. If you’ve selected the private option, you’ll then travel to a soy sauce brewery or travel straight to a lacquerware store to browse handmade crafts. For an additional cost, you’ll have the chance to create your own wind chimes, mirror, or chopsticks under the guidance of a resident craftsman.

Your tour concludes with drop-off at Kitakata station or your accommodation.
