Lake Ashi, Hakone

Arrive at Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower, located near Shinjuku station, in advance of 8am. Here, you’ll greet your guide and board a coach destined for the Kanagawa prefecture, renowned for its abundance of seasonal cherry blossoms.

Following a 2-hour journey, you’ll arrive at the 15th-century Odawara Castle and learn of its turbulent military history. Snap photographs of the castle, smothered in candy-floss pink blossoms, before enjoying a Japanese buffet lunch at a local restaurant. 

You’ll continue to Lake Ashi and board a pirate ship based on 16th-century battleships. Absorb the snow-capped splendor of Mt. Fuji as you cruise around the lake.

Your next destination is Lake Kawaguchi, home to the prefecture’s annual cherry blossom festival due to an abundance of the pink blooms. Wander around the area, home to more than 300 cherry blossom trees, before returning to the bus and relaxing for the 2-hour journey back to Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Mariko was AWESOME!!! She was our tour guide. She was friendly and with a smile all the time. The tour itself felt a bit rushed. I could have skipped the Pirate ship ride and just went straight to Lake Kawaguchi and spent more time there and explore that area.
