Discover hidden izakaya bars that you’d never find on your own with this small-group bar hopping tour in Tokyo’s busy Shinjuku area.
Meet your group and guide at the departure point, and then you’ll be on your way to an evening of eating and drinking. Several drinks and snacks are included, which will equal a full meal. Your guide will take you to some of the hottest spots in the area, so you won’t miss out on any of the best drinking spots.
Izakaya bars also serve food, so things like grilled chicken, seafood, and veggies will be on the menu. You can choose what you like.

This is a great tour - highly recommend it. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and flexible. If we had gone to Omoide Yokocho ourselves, we would not have the same positive experience. The cost also included a significant amount of food and drinks, all delicious. This is a MUST if you are visiting Tokyo for the first time.

This tour allowed us to see some parts of Tokyo that we would never have seen on our own. Our guide, Mizuki, is from Tokyo and was very informative and friendly. After meeting him at our starting point, we started on our tour.
We visited 3 different bars on the tour. They were different in terms of location, size, and character. 2 of them were small (one had only 7 seats), and the other was a bit larger and had a restaurant/diner vibe and was very busy with local customers.
We had a choice of drinks in all 3 places, and a choice of food in the first two. All of them were within a 10-15 minute walk of the starting point, so there’s very little time lost between stops.
The greatest benefit, aside from the knowledge shared by our guide, is that it would be impossible as a tourist to ever find these authentic places. Located in alleys, with dozens and dozens of unmarked doors, it really called us to experience authentic Tokyo bars.
A couple of notes:
- don’t eat a big meal before the tour. There’s plenty of food included in the tour to satisfy your appetite.
- arrive early, especially if traveling by train. The local station is huge, extremely busy, and confusing to navigate (even locals occasionally get a little lost).
If you are looking for a great way to see authentic local bars in Tokyo then be sure to take this tour.

Daichi was our tour guide and he was so friendly, knowledgeable. We did a bar in memory lane, one in the red light district and another sake bar in shinjuku. Was a cool experience.

Yuka was an amazing tour guide! I ended up having a private tour because I was the only one who booked it. But it was a great time nonetheless! She was enthusiastic and bubbly. It was like hanging out with an old friend that I haven't seen in a long time. Overall I would recommend doing this tour!
