An unforgettable and unique experience!!!
duw1203, Feb 2020
We were greeted by our guide, Yokoshi @the Ryoguku Station and were part of a group composed of four persons. We headed to the stable and walked through an area that is historically dedicated to the sumo. Before entering the stable, we were given instructions regarding the protocol to be observed during the sumo training. The moment we entered the stable and while the sumo wrestlers were already practising under the supervision of their trainers, we realised that we were living an unforgettable and exceptional moment. We felt ourselves as privileged people since a few persons only were authorised to attend the training. Being able to take pictures so as to capture every movement and every emotion of the wrestlers is also an immense privilege as well as being able to be photographed with a wrestler. Having attended this training just before the beginning of the January 2020 Grand Tournament was a moment in time and seeing all the flags raised near the Ryoguku station is a very symbolic experience. Our warmest thanks to Yoshiko to have helped us discover the world of the sumo and live this unique experience. We hope to be back in the future to attend matches during the Grand Tournament.
