My parents and I recently did the Villandry Azay-le-Rideau and Langeais with Wine Tasting from Tours, tour --- and it was a wonderful experience! Our guide Virginie was a gracious host, and provided a full day of friendly and informative narration at every chateau, castle, and garden. It was also a plus that she let the group go at their own pace, so we never felt rushed along. Virginie is an expert in the history and culture of the region, and I really left the day feeling I know a lot more about that slice of French and European history straddling the medieval and renaissance periods.
On the practical side, our guide had everything pre-arranged so we never had to wait in line to buy tickets or have a tour strategy tours at each destination were nicely orchestrated and narrated by our guide Virginie. Additionally, there was a wine tasting and lunch provided at a quaint chateau winery in the Chinon region. The facilities and grounds were beautiful, and it was a very pleasant spot for tasting local wine and enjoying an afternoon meal. Interestingly, the wineries in France apparently are not set up for the visitor experience nor is this encouraged, so a winery visit is a venue that takes a tour company some effort to set up - so it's a bonus to have that piece included.
Thank you Virginie for a great day of castles, gardens, and wine! All of our expectations were met and exceeded, and I will definitely try one of your other tours on my hopefully next trip!
My niece and I had a lovely day visiting the chateaus and particularly enjoyed Simon's informative background information and would recommend the tour to other travellers
