DISAPPOINTED ☹️
Elizabeth_B, Nov 2022
I don’t have a story about this trip, because we paid our money $236.00 US Dollars for the Tour, we followed the instructions given to meet at the Hyatt Hotel for 8:00 am. The Down South Tour of Trinidad was to start at 8:30 am. Well guess what no one came for us. We were running to every Van or persons gathered and asking “if they were going on the said above tour”. Each time, we were told no; and each time, we were totally disappointed ☹️. We asked the concierge of the Hyatt hotel to call the said company, after many calls, we spoke with Sandra who told us to call back and speak with Mr. Carvalho. He told me that the vehicle was stuck in flood waters and they have no control over the weather. I, told him that yes, you don’t have control over the weather but, you could have called us and told us something and if the vehicle, you were using got stuck in flood water, is that what you were going to use to drive, you did not care about our safety. He never apologized or cared about us. This is my boyfriend first trip to Trinidad&Tobago and I wanted him to have a good time. MY BOYFRIEND WANTS HIS MONEY BACK ON HIS CREDIT CARD. STAT😡. All who are looking for tours, please use Ms. Gunda. Island experience. We did a Tour and had a great time. We are going on another Tour tomorrow. VIATOR TOUR, Luis wants his money back.

Hi Elizabeth, let me firstly apologize for your disappointing and unacceptable experience - and also the fact that no one apologized to you yet. In all transparency, our small team was overwhelmed that day and overlooked advising you about the flood situation. It is inexcusable and we wholly regret it. We also had no replacement vehicle/ driver at the time - but I assure you we would not have used the same vehicle and jeopardize your safety in any way. Nevertheless, we are glad to hear that you had a good tour with Gunda over at Island Experiences and that they picked up where we fell short. My sincere apologies again for letting you all down. This doesn't represent the level of service you can expect from Trinidad and Tobago, and we accept full responsibility for this incident. We hope the rest of your trip is as enjoyable as it should be. Regarding your refund, we issued it from our side the same day this occurred. However, it may take a few more days to appear on the credit card used. Wishing you safe and enjoyable travels ahead.
An amazing experience.

What an amazing experience. Our tour guide, Jeff, was beyond hospitable and knowledgeable. He treated us like family and not just as visitors. The places on this tour made you feel as though you were traveling to different countries. Truly picturesque. The food was also very amazing! When I come back, I will specifically ask for Jeff.

The actual tour was great. The sites that were part of the tour were very appropriate. Jeffrey, our guide, made the experience even more pleasurable.

David S, Aug 2018
Jeffrey did a great job of running the tour. For one thing, it is one of the few I could find that I could book as a solo traveler without paying extra, and that was appreciated. We had a day that could have turned out disappointingly, as there was heavy rain. Jeffrey did a good job of staying in contact with people at different locations, and making adjustments on the fly so that we could catch good weather when and where it happened. The result was an excellent day of sightseeing. The pitch lake is unique, and the sights along the way - the Hindu temple, San Fernando Hill, and others - add interest and good breaks. Jeffrey is knowledgeable about many topics and a very informative person to travel with. He is willing to work with clients to customize tours as desired and is full of ideas. Highly recommended.

This tour started in a very very bad way, when I was requested to pay an additionnal 60 US because the hotel I was picked up at was not in Port of Spain. It was in Piarco, in a hotel close to the airport.. There was no indication whatsoever on the website, no pop-up when I entered the name of my hotel when I booked the tour altnough the name bore the word airport- that should have been a clue!!! or when I called Viator the day before my tour to confirm pick-up time, that I would have to pay that additional fee. I was really mad at the tour operator and talked on the phone to the same guy I had talked to the day before..He said that iinforming me of the additional 60 just slipped his mind... It was not the driver/guide' s fault and I did not want him to lose his workday either. He was unhappy about this situation too, but ended up being a nice, knowledgeable and charming host throughout the day thank you so much, Errol !!. The pitch lake is very interesting to see when you get good explanations as I did with a guide I think his name was 'Bobby who new every bit about this lake, the different textures, the different water colors , the positive impact on health of the different minerals... San Fernando is very iinteresting to see too, with the enormous energy plants you have no idea they exist when you first enter the city..The visit of the religious sites the actual temples were closed was of a lesser interest to me, but that is okay. To note is although Viator indicatees that all entrance fes are included in the tour, for what I have seen, there were no entrance fees in any of the sites I have visited, although my guide- rightfully so- paid he guide at he pitch lake. The Hindu sites have no fee, but donation boxes. Overall, the visit was interesting and Errol, my driver/guide/host definitely saved the day.. But I do have serious probems with the tour operator Viator not providing complete and proper information about itheir fees and claiming that all entrance fees are included in the tour price, when- in this case at least- they were non existant.

It was a great tour. A lot of fun seeing Indian temple complex as well as the lake that contains asphalt and sulfur. Our guide, Jeffrey, was excellent. We did many of our tours in Trinidad with him and would recommend him most highly. He made our whole trip fun and memorable.

It was so interesting seeing how asphalt is mined in a lake--and its a beautiful setting. Our driver was terrific because we had showers most of the the day, so he customized the tour for us. My husband enjoyed seeing all the power generation on the island. I enjoyed finding so much of India in Trinidad.
Good tour to see the southern part...
Suvodh C. B, Dec 2017
Good tour to see the southern part of Trinidad. The Asphalt mine, the Sadhu temple and the Duttarya temple with the tallest hanuman statue outside India were the highlights of this tour.
