What To Expect

Arrive at a designated meeting location in the Tromsø city center before the designated departure time. Bring a scarf or snow goggles if it's snowing heavily, and wear your warmest clothes. Use of the facility's extra-warm clothes and boots are included, if you prefer.

Climb into a comfortable tour vehicle, and take off for Kvaløya, one of Norway’s largest islands. Arrive at the Tromsø Wilderness Centre to meet around 300 Alaskan huskies, who are well-cared-for and are right at home pulling a loaded dogsled through Norway's snowy, icy conditions. You get the opportunity to meet the facility's new puppies during a guided tour of the dog yard as well as a visit to the puppy enclosure. Hear information about racing activities, the Alaskan Husky breed, and animal welfare.

During your dogsled ride, a small guest-to-guide ratio ensures personalized attention and that your sled is driven by a professional musher. Stop halfway through the course for photos and a short break in the scenic wilderness. Return to the base, and group around the campfire for a hearty Norwegian meal of bidos, a soup made with reindeer meat, vegetables, and broth. Vegetarian options are available.

This trip runs in almost all weather conditions; in the case of extreme weather, you can opt for a refund, rescheduling, or a different activity.

After your adventure, you are dropped back at the Tromsø city center.

What I liked about this tour is that you can also get to learn about the training of the dogs and the work of a musher. And the staf is realy nice !
Not to be missed

What an experience! I booked this as a Birthday treat for my sisters and was not disappointed. We thoroughly enjoyed the morning from the warm welcome, meeting the huskies (and puppies) the sledding and not forgetting the chocolate cake! WAW!
Loved it!
DenisaGabriela_U, Feb 2020
I loved this! The 45minute sled ride went real quick but it was fun and the scenery was breathtaking! We stopped for a few pictures as well :) the huskies are the loveliest, cutest and cuddliest ever! We even saw and cuddled with the puppies. It’s nice to see how excited the dogs get about the sled ride. So fun! The vegetarian lunch (cous cous) was yummy and the chocolate cake was great! I loved this experience, perhaps even more than the reindeer sled ride.

What a spectacular day !! Great service. We were picked up on time , taken to the dog sleighing venue , with total professionalism . Equipped with clothes abs boots , shown the huskies where they are informed of the routine which I may add is excellent as the wealth fair of the dogs is a priority. The whole experience is a total exhilarating day ! Definitely recommend x
Fun experience!

Amazing experience in Tromsø !

I visited the Tromsø Villmarkssenter with my mom and sister on New Years eve. The center is only 25 minutes from the Tromsø city center and well worth the trip! We enjoyed our sleigh rides and playing with the pups. The staff is so friendly and accomodating. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime activity! So fun! If you're in Tromsø, definitely make time for this adventure! That said, Iwould recommend wearing lots of wool and/or an extra jacket. The thermal suits help keep cold wind out, but are not super insulated.

Fabulous experience, wonderful guides in a magical setting. Lovely lunch provided in a very warm hut. 5 week old husky puppies made the day!
Bucket list experience, highly recommend.
Richard_S, Dec 2019
Both the mushers and the dogs obviously love their work and it was a pleasure to be whizzing through the snow with them. The staff know and love their teams and look after them as huskies should be. As well as a 45 minute plus sled ride, we had a talk about the dogs, their care and training, and time to meet and cuddle the very friendly adults as well as some adorable pups. Afterwards we enjoyed reindeer stew followed by chocolate cake. It's not fine dining but tasty and we scoffed it all. There is a veggie option available.Highly recommend.
Everything was awesome !
Victor_N, Nov 2019
The husky sledding ride was awesome. We were picked up easily in Tromsø city center. 30mn of bus to get there. And after 40-60 mn of incredible sledding ride we ate near the campfire. I recommend !
Absolutely worth every penny - amazing!

We had the best day at the Tromsø Villmarkssenter thanks to Marvin, Nate, Andreas and the team. We had a great experience sledding, surrounded by snow covered mountains (we were very lucky with the snow!), with our knowledgeable guide Andreas who was able to teach us about each dogs' role within the team and about sledding more generally. We then had time to play with the dogs after our ride, and meet the pups who will one day join the race team. After this we went inside to warm up and have our lunch, which was a meat and veg stew (they have vegetarian options) with a hot cup of coffee. This trip was very well organised and the staff were friendly and polite.
