We enjoyed our tour a lot although we did not see much of Northern light. Our guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We went to a lovely location by the lake. Unfortunately there was a lot of clouds that night and we only saw the glimpse of the light. The small group was perfect. We got warm suits, some people got also warm boots. We had hot chocolate and soup. We saw wild reindeers. We had a fire in the middle of nowhere. If we saw the light that would be icing on the cake. We wanted to go again the next day with the same guide, but tour was all booked out. The treatment was very personalized.
when we got on the mini bus, Tom our guide for the evening informed us we would have to travel up to Finland to find clear skies.
This we did, periodically stopping for Tom to check the sky. Once we reached a decent place to stop we all put on the Thermal suits and boots provided by Tom and started to observe the clear sky, apart from the milky way we were not fortunate to see the Aurora.
The hot chocolate, cookies and Reindeer soup were very good, we could not fault the commitment of Tom and driver Alesandro who kept pushing north in the quest for clear skies. In total we were out for 9 1/2 hours, Toms knowledge of the lights is excellent. We would certainly recommend Wandering Owl, we plan to return to Tromso and will certainly use them again.
The guide is amazing and very experienced. Very helpful and knowledgeable!

This was a fabulous evening with a knowledgeable guide who looked after us royally, taking us to an excellent spot to see the aurora which put on an amazing show! Worthen every penny!
Great experience made better by the guide Marcus. He knew the region very willing and was willing to drive through the night if necessary to find the lights. His enthusiasm for the topic was great to see. As it happened did not need to drive to Finland as we came acrosshe spot he knew overlooking a fjord with tremendous views and the light show started. He was so enthused by the lights and was very keen to take his own photos which got us all excited and he helped us all set up the cameras to ensure that we recorded the show. Once the lights calmed he set us up with hot drinks, a campfire soup/stew and cookies. He kept us entertained as the weather became older and added to the experience of the lights. Great lights, great guide
Unfortunately because of weather we were unable to see the Auroras but we learned so much from Hein about the weather, photography, the Auroras, and even wild animal behavior while on safari in Africa :. Even without the Auroras, the late night beach bomb fire, the company of fellow travelers and an incredible guide, the warm homemade soup, the delicious homemade cookies and hot chocolate made this evening one of our favorite memories of our trip to Norway.
I went to Tromso to celebrate my birthday with the sole purpose of seeing the Northern Lights. My tour guide was fantastic and really made the experience fun. He initially took us to a stunning place to see the lights, but unfortunately clouds came in. He immediately recognized we needed to relocate and once we were back in the car was quickly headed to another spot. The second spot was equally as breathtaking as the first and we were able to see the lights. The reindeer soup was fantastic and I am not sure what the cookies were, but they were homemade and addictive! I highly recommend Wandering Owl and I am so glad I got to see the Northern Lights on my birthday.
Even though we suffered re the cold being out late at night in remote place, the knowledge of the guide was excellent on both the northern lights as well as set up of the camera which meant I got some of my own excellent photo's. Definitely recommend to see the lights in small group tour.
Really great tour. Traveled with my 78 year old grandma and Matias really took care of her despite the fact that we were slowing down the tour. I was new to my SLR and he really taught each and everyone of us how to capture the aurora with our cameras . He provided us with snacks and a wonderful dinner.
Brilliant evening and brilliant guide and would highly reccommend this tour only downside still currently waiting for the images from the evening.
fantastic light show ,guide was great very interesting, well worth the money.
We embarked on a road trip at 6 pm mid January, north of Tromso, with our experienced guide, Delphin. We snowshoed to a remote frozen lake under the light of the moon, then we took pics of the Northern Lights. Delphin offered us hot chocolate, tea and reindeer stew, all delicious. Pretty cold, but a great experience. Dephin also gave us great advice on how to use our cameras and was very helpful during this trip. Well done!
Best night ever! Delphin our tour guide is a legend. His knowledge of the lights and area plus his scientific background made for a really fun night. The lights went all night off a big solar storm. The small group was perfect and got to meet nice people. Nothing could be better. Thank you
This was the best trip I and #39;ve ever been on! The tour guide DELPHIN was absolutely amazing and truly made it the trip of a lifetime!! Highly highly recommend!!
Excellent trip, not many people actually saw the Northen lights the evening we went out but we were lucky with the excellent knowledge of our guide. The Reindeer stew, and all huddled around the fine drinking hot chocolate by the sea made it a special evening so thank you.
really good trip ,food could be better , but our guide was great would recommend to anyone !
Excellent night out searching for the Northern Lights. The guide was brilliant and had plenty of information to share with us. Unfortunately no matter how much you pay for a Northern Lights Tour they can't control Mother Nature. On our night we only got to see the lights faintly behind the clouds. The experience was still one we thoroughly enjoyed. We would recommend Wandering Owl tours.
We saw the lights and they were stunning so from the standpoint of getting to see what you came to see you delivered. However, our bus got stuck in the snow lopsided and didn't get a tow truck for 6 hours. That meant that when we were freezing cold from being outside we havd to sit in a lopsided bus to keep warm and not all of us could do so at the same time for fear of the bus tipping over. I understand accidents happen but the way in which it was handled was not in mind for the customers. immediately when the bus got stuck they should have called for a replacement bus but they never did. this meant we had to wait twice for someone to attempt to get the bus back on the road. We also didnt get to go to some of the best locations that the tour guide wanted to take us to see the lights. It possible we could have seen more of the aurora but we did not. We got home later than planned because of waiting for this bus to get free. The company didn't offer us a voucher or refund. To be honest, the tour guide was spectacular and did a great job trying to keep us positive but the company let us down. I'd recommend keeping this in mind so you can prepare for this type of service or use another tour company.
