Your day begins with an early morning pick-up from your Bali hotel by private vehicle. Admire the views on the drive to Ubud, where you’ll be welcomed with a spectacular performance of a traditional Barong dance. Be mesmerised by the dazzling costumes and hypnotic music as you watch the tale of good (the lion, Barong) vs. evil (the witch, Rangda), culminating in a show-stopping finale.
Continue to the nearby handicraft village of Celuk, famed for its gold and silver work, where you’ll have chance to watch the artisans at work and learn more about Ubud’s rich craft-making heritage. Pause for lunch (own expense) at a local restaurant, before taking a walk around the Monkey Forest, where you can get up close to adorable Balinese macaques, and admire the beautiful Hindu temples.
Take time to explore Ubud village and browse for souvenirs at the Ubud Art market, before heading to the next destination – a local coffee plantation, where you can discover Indonesia’s world famous Luwak coffee. Learn about the unusual method of producing the coffee, which involves the coffee berries being eaten and defecated by Asian palm civets, then collecting the part-digested beans from the forest floor. After sampling the other coffees and teas made at the plantation, perhaps opt to taste a Luwak coffee too (extra cost).
After a full day exploring Ubud, your tour ends with a transfer back to your hotel.
