What You Can Expect

Ushuaia Shore Excursion: Private Tour of Tierra del Fuego National Park

Tierra del Fuego National Park

Meet your private guide at Ushuaia's port when your cruise ship docks. Climb aboard a comfortable vehicle with your private party and travel 7 miles (11 km) out of Ushuaia, watching the scenery change as you go. This shore excursion takes you to the world's southernmost national park, Tierra del Fuego National Park, home to spectacular scenery and flora and fauna found nowhere else in the world.

Pass lakes, lagoons and rivers, all of which are flowing toward a singular exit: the Beagle Channel, named after the vessel in which Charles Darwin explored this region in the 1800s. Drive by impressive Mt Susana and arrive at the origin of the End of the World Train, or the South Feugian Railway. The train station is the region's former prison, once a home for Argentina's most hardened criminals. Take a scenic train ride at your own expense, viewing breathtaking scenery like Ensenada Bay and Isla Redonda and learning about the history of the area.

Re-board your vehicle for a trip across the Lapataia River, where you can choose among several options for leisurely hikes. Follow your guide to Mirador Lapataia, Laguna Verde or Laguna Negra. Catch a glimpse of some of the varied, active bird life along the way.

Back in your vehicle, drive toward Lapataia Bay. Hike with your guide along the canal a short ways to view mussels, snails and limpets. Keep a look out for ancient fossils among the rocks, clues into what life was like for this area's residents many centuries ago.

After your private tour, return to Ushuaia port to your ship.

Our guide, Andreas, was very knowledgable and his love of the area came through in our conversations. We enjoyed the many different areas we were able to see during the tour.

The guide and tour of Tierra del Fuego National Park were fantastic. We got out well ahead of the mass of folks from the ship so had much of the Park to ourselves for most of the morning. The Park is beautiful and our guide was quite adaptable to our needs - hiking, photography or whatever. Very well worth doing.

Oscar was our guide on this tour. It was a fabulous tour with our guide providing an interesting, fact-filled narrative for the entire trip. He provided stops for photos and explained the procedures for getting the stamp at the End of the World. He answered any questions we had fully often adding more information. It was a really great tour.

I booked this excursion during our cruise with Oceania. Our party of six had a huge van with plenty of space for 15 people. Erhan(sp?) , our guide was excellent, and took us on the train and short hike.
Recommend using this tour company, very dependable. Serving hot tea and cookies were a added touch to make our excursion the best!

There isn't a lot to see in the area but the bikes made it really fun. The tour should include the cemetery too then it would be perfect! We loved our guide Huego. Definitely would recommend this tour.

Our guide met us at the ship on time and was very easy to find. We had a mid-size van for the 6 of us that was very comfortable. On our way to the Park he told us about the area including its history, past and present and gave us a feel for what it was like to live there year round. Whenever we wanted to stop for pictures he was more than accommodating, even suggesting great locations. Since we were in a smaller van versus the large buses used by the cruise ship excursions we were able to go down some of the scenic roads that they couldnt. We were also able to navigate the bathroom opportunities before the crowds showed up. He was extremely knowledgeable and also gave us ideas of places to stop once we got back into town. I would highly recommend this company and tour for shore excursions in Ushuaia.
