Meet your private guide at Ushuaia's port when your cruise ship docks. Climb aboard a comfortable vehicle with your private party and travel 7 miles (11 km) out of Ushuaia, watching the scenery change as you go. This shore excursion takes you to the world's southernmost national park, Tierra del Fuego National Park, home to spectacular scenery and flora and fauna found nowhere else in the world.
Pass lakes, lagoons and rivers, all of which are flowing toward a singular exit: the Beagle Channel, named after the vessel in which Charles Darwin explored this region in the 1800s. Drive by impressive Mt Susana and arrive at the origin of the End of the World Train, or the South Feugian Railway. The train station is the region's former prison, once a home for Argentina's most hardened criminals. Take a scenic train ride at your own expense, viewing breathtaking scenery like Ensenada Bay and Isla Redonda and learning about the history of the area.
Re-board your vehicle for a trip across the Lapataia River, where you can choose among several options for leisurely hikes. Follow your guide to Mirador Lapataia, Laguna Verde or Laguna Negra. Catch a glimpse of some of the varied, active bird life along the way.
Back in your vehicle, drive toward Lapataia Bay. Hike with your guide along the canal a short ways to view mussels, snails and limpets. Keep a look out for ancient fossils among the rocks, clues into what life was like for this area's residents many centuries ago.
After your private tour, return to Ushuaia port to your ship.
