Overview

Travel by coach around the scenic archipelago of Malta on this guided, full-day tour. Visit the famous Blue Grotto, whose sparkling waters have been featured in Troy and other award-winning movies. Enjoy free time in the coastal village of Marsaxlokk to stroll the waterfront market, and after sitting down to a leisurely 3-course lunch with wine, visit the Ghar Dalam cave and Hagar Quim Temple.
  • Full-day Malta tour including the south coast, Blue Grotto, Hagar Qim Temples, and Ghar Dalam
  • Visit the Blue Grotto caves by boat, if you wish
  • Enjoy free time in the fishing village of Marsaxlokk on Malta’s south coast
  • Relax over a 3-course lunch with wine
  • Explore megalithic ruins at Hagar Qim Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Walk through Ghar Dalam, a prehistoric grotto
Depart from your Malta hotel (pickup from selected hotels), and travel by climate-controlled coach bus to Hagar Qim, the prehistoric site that overlooks the wide expanse of the blue Mediterranean and the islet of Filfla.

Head next to the dazzling Blue Grotto, a cluster of brightly lit caves on Malta’s rugged south coast. Here, make the most of free time to explore Wied iz-Zurrieq harbor and the shoreline independently, or choose to join an optional boat excursion (own expense) to see inside the caves.

Next, stop off for a 3-course lunch with a glass of wine at a local restaurant before continuing to the typical Maltese fishing village of Marsaxlokk. Amble about the postcard-perfect village and snap photos of the candy-colored iuzzus (fishing boats) moored off the coast. You'll also have time to explore the local market set right on the water.

Finally, visit Ghar Dalam. Nicknamed the Cave of Darkness, this prehistoric grotto is one of the earliest forms of evidence that humans settled in Malta. Explore the public areas with your guide, and then enjoy free time inside the Ghar Dalam museum.

Your day tour concludes with a drop-off back at the hotel.

Please note: The sea around the Blue Grotto is rocky, so boat rides are subject to cancellation.

The hotel pickup lasted for about one hour and a half, which doesn't make much sense as Malta is a small country. The tour was given in various languages, which made the explanations short and incomplete. Lunch was not very good and didn't have all the listed options. I would recommend to visit these places by public bus instead of taking this tour.

This was a very enjoyable tour. It was a convenient and informative way of exploring some more remote location on the island of Malta. Admittedly, I did this tour a few years ago, before Hagar Qim was added to the itinerary, but as I have also been to Hagar Qim independently, I can say that this tour must be even better than when I did it. Hagar Qim is one of the best archeological sites in all of Malta I did quite a few when I was there. I also recommend everyone visit the beautiful little fishing village of Marsaxlokk. It was also nice to have a break in the tour for a group lunch, especially if you are a solo traveler, its a great way to meet other like minded people. The tour guide was lovely and there was plenty of free time to go off and explore on your own too, so you never felt really tired down. If you are wanting to see some different places in Malta, other than Valletta and St Julian's and you are short on time, then this tour is perfect for you.

Great tours, the boat ride was nice as well. The only problem was the meeting point to get started wasn't so clear but aside from that it was beautiful.

Interesting. At the temples we stood in one place whilst our guide talked for a long time in two languages. I was bored, let alone our 12 year old so we wandered off. The boat ride (extra cost) is lovely but that's all you have time for at that stop. Great being driven to see the places places.

Be sure to contact ahead about the meeting point. If you are staying in the pedestrian zone of Valletta you may need to walk to another spot. Valletta is small, though, so the walk will not be long. Small buses pick up everyone from various places and then we join the big bug for the tour. So glad to see our Guide was Danielle Borg who had been our guide the previous day as well Gozo tour. She is excellent!!!!!!! Just the right amount of history and local culture. The English speaking buses are where Eastern Europeans, Dutch adn others who have not tours in thier own language are placed and Danielle took special pains to be sure they understood her as well--as far as the tour itself--WOW! Limstone heritage was impressive and improtant to understand the history of hte island architecture. Hagar Qim was amazing, and the visit to the much vaunted fishing village was fun--but the village wehre we had lunch was even better--and the group lunch was delicious! A rarity for large group food service. Each stop was fun, just right in length and there was never any push to buy.

The day didn't start too well when the tour company gave us the Gozo pick up time 7.45 am instead of the correct time of 9.30 am. That and being given the wrong pick up spot didnt help. However, it all picked up from there. The bus and crew were fab The tour was varied and the small group meant things moved along well The Grotto boat trip is brieff. While it was impressive not sure it's worth 16 for the two of us. However, when in Rome....or Malta... Marsaxlokk was a nice wee port with the colourful fishing boats. Stayed there for an OK lunch. Enjoyable day...worth doing
