Overview

Visit Malta’s ‘Three Cities,’ on a half-day of Cospicua, Vittoriosa, and Senglea, then sample Maltese wine at a local winery. You’ll explore winding streets lined with historic churches and landmarks, learn stories from Malta’s dramatic past, and see some of the island’s top sites. This tour includes pickup and drop-off at select locations, as well as a wine tasting with light snacks.
  • Half-day Three Cities tour with wine tasting
  • Learn about local history
  • Guided walking tour through atmospheric streets
  • See historic, fortified cities
  • Taste local wines with savory snacks
  • Includes hotel pickup at select locations
Meet a driver at your Malta hotel for a morning departure, then travel to the Three Cities, the collective name for the fortified centers of Cospicua, Vittoriosa, and Senglea.

You’ll drive past the double-fortified harbor city of Cospicua, then stretch your legs on a walking tour through Vittoriosa, which has a long history of sailors, merchants, and warfare. Soak up the fascinating atmosphere of the area, following winding streets past a series of historic landmarks, with an experienced guide to lead the way and share stories. Find out how the island city of Senglea resisted the 1565 Great Siege of Malta, and why it was eventually joined to Conspicua by a land bridge.

Following your time in the Three Cities, continue to Marsovin Cellars, where you’ll learn about local grape cultivation and winemaking. Taste Maltese wine alongside a selection of savory snacks such as local-style bread and cheese, the perfect introduction to Maltese cuisine.

Great Overview of the Three Cities
DCSVPE
, Sep 2019
This was a nice introduction to the the Three Cities. I had been to them before on other tours, but each one showed a different side of each. For those wishing to spend only a half day touring, this was an easy way to get a glimpse of some sites that one should visit separately if time allowed. The wine tasting was excellent and we learned a lot about the unique nature of the wines of Malta. The amount of walking is moderate on somewhat hilly surfaces. Our guide was very knowledgeable, but I was surprised that we spent no free time in Birgu (Victoriosa) nor did she note the terrific Malta at War Museum at the entrance, where we stopped for a very short break. So bottom line--it is a good overview of the three cities for people with very limited time, but less attractive for those interested in more depth and detail.

This trip was basically a One City Trip plus Wine Tasting. The coach parked up in a port where we immediately walked away stopping on a pretty bridge overlooking the harbour around Vittoriosa. The Guide explained that as the other two Cities had been bombed during the war it wasn't worth going to them. We then proceeded for a walking tour of Vittoriosa which was excellent. After that we got back onto the coach and went to the Marsolin wine cellars where we were given a talk about the winery and visited the cellars where the wine was stored. This was followed by the wine tasting, white red and rose and a some lovely buffet type food, Feb 2018

Eh, the tour of the Three Cities was ok, but I would hardly call the wine part a tasting. It was a tour of the winery and lots of opportunity to purchase wine, but minimal tasting.

This was a pleasant enough activity, despite the heat. There were some delays but not the fault of the tour operator. Evelyn the tour guide was pleasant and engaging. She also engaged the local community throughout the tour, no doubt paving the way for smooth acceptance of tours in the private areas of Valletta . When I read the small print that this was a Supreme tour I was concerned as our other experiences with this company left us not wanting to utilise them ever again.

OK, to be clear, this review relates only to this particular tour package I've added a separate comment re the wine tasting separately below. This tour was a big disappointment. Having booked a couple of weeks before our trip to Malta, I found myself spending half a day chasing the local tour operator the day before the actual tour, trying to confirm pick up arrangements. The contact number provided on the Viator ticket did not work and I was only able to get in contact with the operator after a bit of Googling. The pick up arrangements were finally confirmed at 7.50pm the evening before the tour, with a hotel pick up time of 8.55am the following morning. At 9.05am the following morning we were bundled into a a minibus that a had seen better days and deposited on a busy road junction in the middle of St Julians, along with guests from several other tours that this operator was providing. For the next 45 minutes there was a general lack of communication: no-one was told when the appropriate tour bus would arrive, leading to a large number of confused and stressed guests standing by the road. An hour after our original pick up time we were put onto a bus and the tour finally began. Our tour guide, Mark, seemed pleasant enough, but appeared to be reciting a well rehearsed script. On many occasions his comments contradicted details that we'd seen on previous tours earlier in the week, suggesting that his knowledge came from a piece of paper, rather than local experience. The tour of the three cities turned out to be a 25 minute walk through one of the cities with the other two being pointed out as there's not much to see there before being shuffled back onto the bus for the trip to the wine tasting: no time for a rest room or refreshment break in the 34 degree heat. The wine tasting took place at the Marsovin winery: a well established local producer. This part was actually very good which was a positive reflection on the team at Marsovin rather than the local tour operator. In fact, our tour was joined by a number of other guests who had booked the wine tasting independently. In summary: my recommendation would be to make your own way to Vittoriosa hop on the Valetta - Three cities ferry for around 3 return which will drop you off in the same place as this bus tour and spend some time walking around the city - take some time to grab a coffee/ Cisk and a pastizzi from one of the local side street cafes. Then arrange a separate trip to the Marsovin winery and take the wine tasting and tour separately as this really is worth it.

Mark was our guide and he was great! He knew all about the sites and was great about giving you good information about what you were seeing. The wine tasting was also great at Marsovin wine cellar. It was my wife and my first wine tasting and the manager there was excellent at explaining the wines and what to look for. A great tour.

Guide was very good - easy walk - tons to see wine tour was visually great...but when the wine they served at the end the last wine was so awful, that everyone on our 20 tour gagged on it. . Why serve a terrible wine the last one served....the guys own words, this wine will take 20 years to mellow - WHY SERVE IT? The other wines served were actually really good and I purchased 5 bottles... just beware on ending your experience with that taste
