The Maltese have pastizzi for breakfast and we will let you decide whether you like the pea or ricotta ones better.

We're sure you will love the fried date pastry sweet which we call imqaret. We also taste the baked cheese snack called Twistees and some sea salt chocolate along with the coffee.
Lunch
We end our morning having some nice ftira lunchtime bread which we traditionally fill with tuna chunks, tomato conserve, onions, capers, olives and other Mediterranean produce.

Malta History and Good Bites

This tour was very heavy on the history, but very informative. I would call it more of a history tour with a sampling of food. Still, Carl was a extremely knowledgeable and kind tour guide and I enjoyed spending time with him and the other people on the tour. Definitely recommend.

Our guide Chris is very cheerful, warm and a very engaging guide. He gave us Malta history, stories of the buildings, orientation of Valetta while we enjoy eating Maltese food such as different kind of pastizzi, maltese coffee and choc, polpette, wine, kinney, tuna sandwich, potatoes etc. We were so full by the time it ended and we are all smiling The group is small about 10 to 12 so we also got to talk to each other. I hope all tourguides is like Chris

our guide Karl was amazing he knew so much history and was really excited about it. Pace was good, there is a lot of walking. Maltese food (coffee, soft drink) definitely has a different spice.

A very interesting food and history tour through Valetta. We learned about the early history of the island, the development of the Malta language and culture, the knights of St John, the many sieges and wars, and finally independence, all while eating our way through Valetta. A real treat of a tour.

Guide was so interesting and passionate about the history and food of Malta. Food was excellent. It started to rain so our guide took us to a protected area and shared some very interesting history of Malta while we ate some delicious pastries.

What a great way to learn about the history and culture of Malta in just a few hours. Our guide Nigel was very knowledgeable and friendly. We learnt so much from his insights and had a great array of local snacks and drinks. Really enjoyed the Maltese coffee, chocolate and the platter. Highly recommend this tour.

Food + walking Tour all in one

Chris was an amazing guide and got everyone to introduce themselves at the start so you feel less like strangers and very comfortable. Don't bother doing a walking tour as you will probably get more information from this tour and you get food and coffee along the way. The local foods we tried were great and highly recommend it.

Our host Chris was exceptional. Such a knowledgeable guide and a great character. He kept us all entertained with stories and the odd joke to lighten the mood. The food we tasted was excellent and a great introduction to local produce and cuisine. Chris had another guide shadowing him called Nigel who again was a great source of information. The tour finished with lunch and a beer which was superb. I cannot recommend this tour enough. Possibly not so much fun for kids but great for couples/small groups.

I joined our guide Carl and the rest of the small group for the food tour at 10h30 and for the next 3,5 hours I had the best time! If you are ever in Malta, do yourself the favour to book this tour with Malta Best Tours. Not only did we try many different traditional foods, drinks and sweets, but Carl basically gave us a tour of the city plus a history lesson. Carl is passionate, informative and has a great sense of humour. One of the aspects I appreciated the most, was that we visited authentic family-owned restaurants and businesses. I will certainly revisit two or more of these businesses before I leave Valletta.
