Meet your tour guide in front of the Tourist Information Center downtown, near Varna's Cathedral.
In a comfortable tour vehicle, set off into the countryside that surrounds Varna. Take a coffee break at a nearby farm where you can view some of the region's horses and other exotic animals.
Continue to the Madara Plateau to view the Madara Horseman, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This rock carving was made in the 8th century on a sheer vertical cliff, depicting a nomadic equestrian warrior of the time in almost life size.
At an equestrian center and wine cellar, taste some of the local varietals before departing for a lunch among the vineyards with wonderful vies over the Stara Planina. After lunch, watch a dressage training session.
Visit a small Orthodox Church, then stop at the 'Stone Desert' (Pobiti Komani). Explore the only desert in Bulgaria, which is punctuated by stone columns between 16 and 22 feet (5 and 7 meters) high.
After your 8-hour tour, return to downtown Varna.
