What You Can Expect

Begin your back-to-nature adventure with an early morning pick-up (around 8am) from your hotel in Varna and soak up the scenery as you journey north through the beautiful Dobrudzha region.

Arrive at Srebarna Nature Reserve around 10.30am and make a beeline for the glittering Srebarna Lake. Follow your guide on a walk around the waterfront, stopping to take in the views from the lakeside observation platforms. Continue to explore the ruins of the Turkish fort of Abdul Medzhidi, also called Medzhidi Tabiya. Admire its impressively preserved Ottoman-era architecture and hear how it was built along the Danube to protect the natural border of the Ottoman Empire. Leave the reserve and drive to historic Silistra, a town perched on the banks of the Danube River. Uncover the town’s fascinating history and heritage with a visit to the Silistra History Museum, stroll through the riverside parks and marvel over the 17th-century Kurshumlu Mosque, famous for its intricate murals and colored brickwork.

On the way back to Varna, pay a visit to the Old Dobrich Ethnographic Museum, an open-air museum devoted to preserving Bulgaria’s rich handicraft traditions. Take the time to browse the 32 craft workshops; watch goldsmiths, blacksmiths and coopers at work; and discover centuries-old techniques like embroidery, weaving and pottery-making.

Finally, settle into your seat for the return journey to Varna, where your tour ends with drop off at your hotel around 8pm.
