Everyone should take a gondola ride in Venice. It was great - just long enough 35 min.. When you pull out into the Grand Canal, it's breathtaking. High recommended.
Very peaceful, relaxing. Probably our favorite part of Venice.
Location was easy to find. Route was very scenic. Duration of 35 mins was perfect! I highly recommend this trip!
this could be a great excursion except you are placed with strangers and there is no narrative from the Gondala pilots
Had some difficulty locating correct provider. They're all over the place and lots of places have signage identifying themselves as gondola docks. Finally found the right one. We were packed into a gondola with two other couples. One couple had a selfie stick which they cleverly used so that it obstructed our view for the entire ride. Gondolier doing it by the numbers, minimally informative with occasional snippets of songs. Didn't see any similarly fully loaded gondolas, except where it was clearly just one family. Would not book this in advance. Pick one that looks good to you when you are there.
While I would recommend doing a Gondola ride when in Venice, not sure this is the best way to do it. It is less expensive, but you have to wait around for a large group to be dispersed into boats, you share the ride with others, the guide doesn't give you any details about what you are seeing and it was only 20 minutes long. We waited a lot longer for the ride than the actual length of the ride and when there are gondola stands everywhere, if you would prefer to do it on your own time and pay a bit more, it might be worth it. If this fits in your budget and you don't mind riding with strangers as they put 6 to a boat, then this works.
Was disappointed and would not recommend this tour. I didn't expect too much as this was the cheapest price I could find but the gondolier did not interact with his passengers at all. We got a map to show where we would go but he did not even point out the highlights. Instead talked to his mates on other gondolas.
The idea was great, but I did not know we would be sharing a gondola with another family.
DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR. Viator needs to find a different vendor. My wife and I both felt like cattle being herded around. The Gondoliers were rude and paid no attention to the passengers what so ever. All they did was yell things back and forth to each other. It was rude and insulting.
I did not find the place that this tour started. I missed the tour.
It was our worst experience in Venice. We booked seven-eight tours thru Vaiator and all were good except this one. We were actually fleeced. For three persons we paid 97 Euros. Actually for 80 Euros you can actually book an entire gondola. And this is the approved govt rate. The gondolier was rude and our gondola was close to getting capsized at one point. No map was given and no effort was made to explain the monuments we were crossing. In fact the gondolier kept mumbling something all the time. Clearly he was disinterested. The people at the boarding point are extremely rude and do not respond to your querry. Despite paying upfront we were treated very shabbily. Avoid at all cost. Otherwise you will come back with sad memories. It is better to go and book the gondola directly. There are several places and better places from where you can board the gondolas.
I will never take this tour again, they were extremely rude, the gondola drivers and the tour leader. Viator should reconsider their relationship with this vendor.
6 people on a boat was far from romantic. 4 would have been fine but 6 was ridiculous. We weren't even allowed to sit next to each other. Such a waste of money.
It was a trip around the block - no sites, no info, it was pretty terrible.
