We loved this tour and booked it on our first day as others had advised in reviews to get an overview of Venice eating venues for our stay. Holly was our guide and she gave us a wealth of foodie information and tips about restaurants etc, especially how to spot where the locals go! The different places we visited were all awesome and the food wonderful. There were only 4 of us on this tour so we got very personalised service. Highly recommend this tour, and early on in your visit.

Looking for a unique experience? This is the tour to take. See a little part of Venice by sampling some local food and wine while you eat standing up at small intimate places, like the locals, without a lot of tourist. Our guide was terrific - gave us a lot of history, local flavor and recommendations on things to do she during our stay.

This was a lovely tour. Our guide was very sweet and accommodating, though sometimes she would start off walking and if you didn't keep up you might loose her in the crowd. My original tour was moved and I ended up on a tour with a family of three which was perfect - small and lots of fun.

It was really fun! An interesting, inspiring tour. Holly is doing a very good job, gives the right amount of information and is attentive to tour members. However, I would personally switch the order of things and rather eat the sweets at the end rather than at the beginning, even though they are nice, or even skip them, and concentrate a bit more on the the first visit at a cichetti bar which was amazing, like all the other stops! All in all: I would do it again, even though the price is high. Thank you, Holly 3

I don't think I ever read any negative review for Viator tours. Maybe people who did not like like their tour, didn't feel like writing a review. But it would be helpful to learn about good and bad when selecting a tour. Eat Like a Local was not the best or even one of the good Viator tours we have taken over the years. Holly, the tour guide, was trying her very best. But this might just not be the best job for her. She was walking, almost running, very fast without paying any attention to the group, mostly talking to a trainee, who has joined the tour to learn the ropes. One of the ladies in the group had difficulties keeping up with the pace of Holli'e marathon. Holly did not notice. When talking about food, Holly was frequently lost for words. She is not very eloquent, and her stories were not always appropriate. For example, talking about violence against women in the context of a story about preparing cod was definitely in bad taste. At the end of the tour, the group had decided not to even bother going to the last stop. The food was very so-so and not always well paired. For example, we got very sweet wine with seafood and were asked not to drink it with the food. Apparently, it was a wine sample to drink after the meal with a cookie. Risotto was cold. We could not even go inside one of the places we visited. We stood outside and Holly brought us some cold cuts which we tasted standing in the cold and balancing plastic plates in our hands.
We have taken many food and wine tours in different cities. Most were quite good. One was spectacular - Barcelona Gourmet Tapas Walking Tour and Flamenco Show. Our tour guide, Daniel, was local, grew up eating the food that he was presenting and was very passionate about it. To this day we eat bread and tomatoes the way Daniel taught us if we can get a hold of good tomatoes.
