Nothing is more special in Venice than to experience a Gondola ride on the canals. Ride was a bit short - not more than 20 minutes, but good memories. Dinner that followed at Antico Pignolo was great! Staff was warm and accommodating and the meal selections were well prepared with perfect portions. We were given a choice of inside or outside dining we chose the latter and it was a truly a delightful evening.
The ride was great and the restaurant was excellent. We were served 4 courses and I have never seen so much food. It was tasty and the presentation was beautiful. It was a great evening. Thank you.
There was a little confusion about the package when we got to the gondola stand and at the restaurant. But once everything was cleared up, it was great.
We got to the gondolas 15 mins late after getting lost trying to find them. The guy running the gondolas was quite rude to us when we got there even after i apologised for being late. Luckily the restaurant was nice and the food was delicious.
Over all it was good but could be better. Would be nice if they scheduled the gondola ride earlier than 7:30. It was dark already nothing much to enjoy or see in the dark. But the restaurant was good did not expect it to be part of the michelin guide resto. The portions are huge for my standards.
Were a bit disappointed in this trip. We did other Viator excursions during our recent trip to Europe, however, this was our least favorite. The gondola was rather old and tattered. We saw lots of others while waiting to board our gondola and they looked much better. Perhaps each gondolier provides his own gondola for these tours? Our gondolier was a disappointment as well. We tried to have a conversation with him and even began singing typical Italian songs as we traveled through the canals to our dinner destination, but he wasn't interested it seemed. Also, we suddenly arrived at the back side of a building which turned out to be our restaurant for dinner. We seemed to come in through the back door and werent even sure if this was where we were supposed to be having our dinner. We made our way through the back of the restaurant and were finally greeted by a staff member who seated us. The A/C wasnt working well and it was very hot in Venice at the time, so dinner was a bit uncomfortable. Food was ok, nothing to brag about. We chose from a pre-selected menu and noticed the dishes other guests were enjoying seemed to look much better. Wish we'd had the opportunity to choose from off of the pre-selected menu, even if it meant paying a bit more for the meal. Overall we were disappointed in the gondola ride and the dinner, it definitely was not what we had expected.
We chose this at our own risk, there were no reviews and it was new to viator so we knew it could go either way. Let's start with the gondola ride... It was the best part of the night it is exactly as described above. It was nice, romantic, and we were able to experience the true beauty of Venice. Once we arrived to the restaurant we were welcomed by the staff who were very nice and helpful. We were not allowed to sit where we wanted to, there was a set table for us. Even though the restaurant was basically empty, even after we asked we were still sat inside in a corner by the front door. the dinner included a four course meal not including drinks. I brought fifty euro with us, I was planning on just getting a decent bottle of wine. I could not find a bottle of wine under 50 even with their ten page front and back list. I would say at least 20 of their wine was over 1,000 some approaching 10,000. Needless to say we did not get any wine. We got a beer and a Bellini for 18. Our appetizer caprese and a raw ham plate were good but I looked how much they were charging for it on their regular menu and it's definitely not worth that. The first course spaghetti with clams and lasagna were outstanding and my favorite part of the dinner. Our second course veal and fried fish was interesting there was a bit of a misunderstanding with our waiter we had no clue that veal was coming it turned out well though and was much better than my fried fish. My plate had an assortment of fried seafood that was good, and what seemed like a fillet of a larger fish. I don't know if this is customary but the bones were left in it so had to pull them out. There was also very little flavor to the fish at all, definitely not worth what they would have charged me for it. All in all I would not recommend this trip it's just not worth the money, you could spend less getting a gondola ride on your own and finding a restaurant that would be twice as good for a tenth of the price.
Wonderful concept for that special night in Venice. Unfortunately, our surly and downright rude gondolier ruined what could have been a truly memorable tour. Thankfully, the exquisite dinner rescued our evening.
you are and #34;promised and #34; a and #34;tour and #34; and a gondola driver in uniform and to be dropped off at the restaurant. NOT THE CASE. Our gondola driver was wearing a white t-shirt, was extremely rude to us, and Ldid not say a SINGLE word the entire ride. he couldn and #39;t park it so we didn and #39;t get dropped at the restaurant.UNHAPPY
