Absolutely wonderful! Not an opera fan, or at least I didn't think I was! So entertaining! Incredible musicians and singers. Definitely a lifetime experience! Actors having fun with the musicians and audience adds to the comedy, would recommend to everyone!
In the early days of opera, performances were presumably given in the private homes of rich patrons. Elaborate staging came later. So the Musica a Palazzo style has authenticity as well as vitality, hilarity in the case of the Barber of Seville anyway and a high standard of acting and musicianship. Being so close to the 5-person cast and 4-piece orchestra made the experience very different from sitting in the middle of the stalls in a theatre. It's expensive, but we thought it was worth it. After trying to think of a reason to knock off a star we ended up giving it the full five.
This was an excellent experience and a very intimate performance which moved through 3 rooms of this 15th Century Palazzo with the intermission with complimentary prosecco in the salon facing the grand canal. All of the La Traviata performers were amazing. Go if you get the opportunity!
Loved it. Such an atmospheric place to listen to opera - and the the whole production was excellent
What a fantastic event! In a small venue, with the audience sitting in the same room of the mansion during the show....moved from room to room and enjoyed the show so much! Would love to see another show this way!
This is without a doubt one of the best things to do in Venice. Highly entertaining and in a beautiful venue. This was my husband's first opera - ever - and now he is hooked. This is opera in a small setting so even novices will get the storyline and nuances. We saw the Barber of Seville performance. Truly outstanding.
In the better late than never category, this was our favorite activity we did in Venice in September 2015 we saw The Barber of Seville . We love opera, and what a great experience to see one in a 15th century palazzo! Of course, there are no supertitles, but they do give you a booklet with the translation. We are thus glad we had seen this particular opera before, but with the translation and the overview in the booklet, combined with the singers and being so close to them to get the facial expressions and emotions, it was easy to follow. The only downside is the signage to get there - we are glad we left enough time to find it before we had dinner. We then found a nice restaurant nearby so we could relax, knowing that we had enough time to get back to the venue and not get lost. The palazzo is down a narrow alley on the right after you find the correct narrow canal. But so so worth it to go!
Best experience, just like going back in time and sitting in the ball room of a Palace and watching a professional performance and then changing rooms for the next act and so on, just amazing.
It was a great performance, The actors all were wonderful. Some people say it was hard locate the venue but it is actually very easy to find. Definitely we will go again!!!
So much fun! We thoroughly enjoyed our evening of antics and music at the Music a Palazzo. The pianist was exceptional, as were the other musicians and the cast was superb. Enjoying an intimate evening of opera in a palazzo couldn't be better. Highly recommended
If you have never seen an opera before, than this is the way to do it. We saw the Barber of Seville. The cast was talented and interecated with the audience at times. When the scene changed, we moved to a different room of the gorgeous palazzo. It was a most delightful evening.
Talented cast provided a very enjoyable performance of Il Barbieri di Siviglia.
This Opera was a delightful way to spend an evening in Venice. The venue was easy to access using my iPhone directions. The performers were truly fantastic, and the performance was very polished and enjoyable.
I saw The Barber of Seville and it was great fun. Good comic timing by the enthusiastic cast.
I've seen a few operas, not a huge follower. I would become a fan if I could see them in this type of venue. Great voices !
Really added to our Venice experience.
Two weeks in Paris and Italy and this was the highlight of our trip. We were just feet away from the singers. We will never forget this intimate singing experience.
Attend an evening performances after touring the island during the day. The actors provide a great show. Every act is in a different room fo the building. Recommend finding the entrance to the performance location - it is down a side street - before the show so you show up promptly.
This was one of the highlights of our six days in Venice. The music was sensational! The voices were superb! Moving from room to room added an element of reality to the performance. When we're in Venice again we will attend another of these performances.
We loved our evening at the opera. The singers were excellent, changing scenes by changing rooms worked well, and the entire experience was orchestrated smoothly. Highly recommended!
This was a fabulous night, wonderful Opera, in a fabulous setting! It was so cool to go into a different room for each scene! So up close and personal, loved having the musicians right there for you to watch too- the Opera Singers a few feet from you - it was a wonderful evening. Very classy, was worth every dime - I would do it again and again for each new Opera as they came out if I lived there! This is a MUST do for lovers of Opera lovers!
We loved this unique experience of seeing La Traviata is such an intimate setting of a private Palazzo in Venice. Moving from room to room in the venue added interest. The quality of the singing and acting was very high. We would highly recommend this to others keen for a special cultural experience in Venice.
