Great fun with food

The knowledge of the different foods. Claudia was absolutely amazing. She made the entire experience worth every second.

Waste of Money!

Zero Star rating! This tour was truly a rip-off. $750 CAD (about 500 euro) for 4 people got us.... 4 pastries, a gelato, a disgusting white bread small sandwich, an Aperol Spritz with a meat ball (that was all bread and not good), and a deep fried tasteless cheese & ham thing. (9 items not 10) 1) I understand that there is a cost to having a private guide for 2 hours .... but even our best restaurant meal, with drinks and appetizers and mains, cost us only 175 euro, and was delicious and satisfying. 2) The guide did not give us any information about the food, like the name, or the history of it (like the region of Italy it came from) and that is because it was standard fare and not necessarily Italian in origin. 3) Also, why would the tour start with desserts/sweets? And why 5 of them? Who can eat this many sweets. 4) We did 3 other wonderful and worthwhile private tours with a guide, closer to Bologna (parmesan, prosciutto, balsamic vinegar tours) that were less expensive, more informative, and had great food and drinks. Totally disappointed! This tour offers no enjoyment. It was a complete waste of time and money.

I have taken many Viator tours in the past and have recommended your company. Never, have I had anything negative to say until now I have also been on food yours before- typically the guide meets you at starting point and walks and engages with you, telling history and stories throughout. As well, sitting with you when you eat telling you the significance to the area of what you’re tasting. NONE of this took place He met us, took us to a pastry shop first where he gave my husband and myself 2 tarts each to start , then another pastry- all from the same shop where we stood at counter by ourselves with no story, no explanation of sweets. He took us to another shop where he got us a cannoli to share while he chatted with a pretty girl. Then he took us to another place for a macaroon-too many sweets on this food tour. He would have added an ice cream (gelato) stop but we said no- this was not a dessert tour. He explained he picks the places and that there is a disclaimer to the 3 hour time it says the tour lasts- ours lasted 2 painful hours. He didn’t seem to have given any planning to our trip I mentioned it’s supposed to be- we finally got a glass of wine one place with a piece of bread and cheese (cicetti) which was good and an aperol spritz when we tasted a meatball which was ok. If my husband and I didn’t ask a question - there would have been silence I have included pricing and details The tour was nothing like the description

The food was fantastic, local, off the beaten path… and the path in Venice has been beat for thousands of years. The guide was the best part though - she was smart, funny and kept our feet and mouths moving - she also stopped at two different gelato places for us.

We had a private tour -just me & my husband. Our tour guide Tommaso was quite friendly, extremely knowledgeable & made our experience very pleasant & fun!! We enjoyed the history of Venice, the change of sceneries & visiting a few monumental sites. The only negative would be the “food structure” of the tour. We wished there was a better “balance” with the tastings - too many sweets (lol) & no seating. We stood & ate at most of our stops. Other than that, we truly enjoyed eating, drinking & strolling throughout Venice. We were not rushed. It was a great mix of food & culture. Tommaso gets 9 stars!!

The tour started with three sweet stops for pastry and ice cream. Then a few stops for savory food. The tour was backwards. Other than the ice cream the food was terrible. And we never got to sit while eating. The tour was overpriced and I cannot recommend it. I use Viator often, and this is my first bad review.

Loris was outstanding! He was knowledgeable, kind, and helpful! We wandered the streets and he brought me from one gem to the next to try out meals and drinks that complemented the beauty and charm of Venice. As we checked out spots, he filled me with historical facts and info about this unique city and the local tastes and treats! I tried a Venetian beignet with custard, a dark chocolate drink, passion fruit chocolate, pistachio gelato, fish lasagna, sarde in saor, red wine with focaccia & various meats (cooked ham/salami/prosciutto), Prosecco, and fresh fried seafood! It was all delicious!

Tomasso was kind, knowledgeable and patient. The tour was listed as 3 hours but only lasted 1.5 hrs. Four stops with 10 tastings. All in relatively close proximity to one another. Definitely enough food, but would have preferred a bit more diversity in location. Best gelato at Suso!

Really disappointing

Showed up a met our tour guide at the location. He was friendly and nice. Then he took us to only 4 locations(not 10 as the advertised ) that were all on the main strip that we had passed by while walking to the meeting spot. None of them were local spots, they were all very touristy, and the food was all pretty average. We expected a little bit of an explanation of each food at the very least but got none. It was just oh here’s a pastry try it, here’s some pizza try it, here’s a sandwich try it. For over $400 this honestly feels like a scam because we could’ve walked to each of these spots and picked some things and tried them like we did and still had 350 left over. Entire tour was less then 40 minutes. Do not waste your money with this tour like we did.

Great way to see Venice beyond the tourist path

We were in Venice with our two daughters (13,10) and wanted to see more of the city than the tourist spots. Claudia met us for our three hour tour and it was one of the highlights of our week in Italy. She was so well informed on the history of Venice, lives locally and took us to locally owned locations. All four of us were stuffed at the end and enjoyed so many unique and interesting local dishes. From pastry and gelato to fish and local small plates, the food was wonderful and Claudia was lovely, especially to our girls. We leaned a lot, found som off the beaten track piazzas to spend time in over the next few days and truly enjoyed this tour. A must do if you want to see more of Venice than the tourist route.

This food tasting tour was absolutely PERFECT! Jenny, our guide had relationships with the vendors and such palpable love for the city and it’s people. It was obvious that she’s taken the time to curate the most perfect, authentic experience. We loved walking into small, off the beaten path eateries and sitting among the locals. We tasted so many incredible dishes, but they were delivered to us with stories and descriptions that made the whole experience so much better. We were delighted, we were brave, we ate allll the things and we would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Venice! It was the best part of our time in this city!

We were so excited about this tour, our son had a medical emergency the night before and we had to cancel - when i contacted our Guide Claudia, she was so quick to respond, offered her kind words but also offered to be a translator at the hospital if we need it. That was so kind but then Viator also gave us a full refund! We will definitely come back and hopefully be able to take this tour. Wr Highly recommend Claudia as a guide and Viator as a company.

Wonderful and Accommodating

First and foremost, our transportation was the high speed train and it was late as was mostly the case in our experience. Luckily Loris was able to introduce us to some of Venice's culinary treasures despite our over 1 hour late arrival. He waited patiently and we were able to make 9 of the 10 planned stops. Amazing service and you could tell the restaurants that we visited had a great relationship with our tour provider. The conversation was inspiring and very informative without being boring for our 5 year old. Engaging, entertaining and all of the food we tried was amazing and authentic. We got recommendations for wine bars, local restaurants for the rest of our stay which we tried and were not disappointed. With so many "tourist oriented restaurants", we were wanting to focus on eating like a local and that is what we got. In some cases having to be assisted by a different waiter or waitress due to the language barrier. There are so many unique places and people in Venice and we were immersed in the culture and food completely. Basically, just book it and you will enjoy it as we did if you ask questions and listen to the advice!

No show for tour guide

Well, let me tell you. We showed up 15 minutes late and there was no guide. Our hotel tried to call her to let her know we were running late and no answer. We tried again to call her at our destination and again no answer. We called Viator and they had no information around our tour. Gave her our booking number and all. Since I paid a goodly amount of money for this tour I want my money refunded. Thank you
