Lorenzo was a fantastic host and helped us to cook an authentic and tasty Venetian dinner. We particularly enjoyed making a riddicio risotto and our own tortellini. It was a wonderful evening talking about life in Venice and we would heartily recommend this for couples or small groups.
MUST DO when visiting Venice! Chef Lorenzo was very welcoming and he really immersed our group into the Italian culture. We had a small group of 4 people which was perfect! Lorenzo also planned a great meal which included homemade tortellini, a great appetizer and homemade tiramisu. Thanks Lorenzo!
The tour description means “home cooking” literally. This was a once in a life time experience to be welcomed into a chef’s home and cook together. Chef Lorenzo was an amazing teacher. The clasis is completely hands on. I am a good cook, but still learned a lot!! My teenager loved it too. YUM!!

Lorenzo really welcomed us into his home and was really great in teaching us how to make ravioli, risotto and burano biscuits which we then thoroughly enjoyed eating! It was a terrific and special experience which was very much due to Lorenzo's passion for cooking, great conversation and such a lovely manner. Grazie mille, Lorenzo!
He opened up his home for us. We shopped for the food then helped cook. It was amazing and so delicious! I'd do it again in a heartbeat!
This experience, as guests and participants in preparation of dinner at the home of Michala, was the highlight of our visit to Venice. We highly recommend!
What an amazing experience! Chef Michela is a professional cook that invited us to her charming apartment in the heart of Venice. She prepared an incredible four course dinner and made a delicious cake for my boyfriend's birthday. It was great to see how locals live, get some cooking tips and try some local delicacies. Michela and her son were a very pleasant company, warm and gracious hosts. This was easily the best dinner that we have had in Venice, highly recommended to everyone!

Michela is very good hostess, kind and friendly from minute 1. More than a teacher-student relationship, ti is like a firedns meeting, you help her preparing th dishes while you learn how to cook them and some logal tricks.
The results was a very nice dinner huge amount and a momorable experience.
We had a great time cooking with Mercedes. It was so wonderful to spend time in a local families home and experience a less touristy area of Venice. The hosts were all very kind and it was a pleasure!!
it was an awesome experience and Mercedes and her husband were so friendly and cute and welcomed us very warm. It was great to learn how traditional venezian dishes were prepared and it tasted great! We can highly recommend it and would do it again anytime!
This is not a class with instruction, it is a gourmet meal prepared by a professional chef in her home. She and her husband did not have enough English, but there was another person there who helped translate. I was glad it was a small group of 4 people. The chef and her husband were welcoming and warm.
Good experience especially gives you the chance to socialize with Venetians and other tourists. I appreciate the hands-on lesson in making real pasta. This gives you a break from the same old thing too.
This was a very good tour. It took place in a palacio in Venice. The wife taught us how to make some antipasto dishes which was hands-on but she had the other courses done ahead of time. The husband and wife did not speak English so they had a young man translating for them. He did not translate everything but did give us enough information to enjoy the experience. After making the antipasto, we sat in the dinning room which was set with china and crystal for our meal and conversation. They did not have recipes for us although they did say they would send them.
A nice insight into Venetian cuisine. If you're up for a social evening where you'll learn some authentic recipes, have some friendly chat and the opportunity to learn about life in Venice then look no further. Great value too!
Wonderfully nice couple, I truly enjoyed them !! but WAY too many ppl 8 in a tiny / hot kitchen, all helping to cook only pea risotto and deep fat friend mozo and sardine sandwiches, boiled sausage just place them in water and a chopped salad
I had expected to make for example pasta noodles from scratch LIKE THE PICTURE SHOWS and a meat sauce. Or a pizza from scratch
No. I would not repeat this tour, tho I would certainly love to just meet them For Dinner !
Although this tour was suppose to include a guide we were to meet at a scheduled place, there was no guide, and the meeting place was changed. When I called to tell them there was no one to meet us, they told me they were trying to reach me for days to inform me of the change. They tried to call me on my home phone.....I believe I was on vacation and unable to answer that phone!!!! They never tried either of the back up numbers, which were our cell phones that we had with us. They gave us a new meeting point and the number to call of the person meeting us. This person was actually the chef that we were taking the class from, and not a guide. We were a 25 minute walk from the new meeting place and the chef was giving us a half hour to get there before he left. This probably would not have been an issue had I not just had back surgery 5 weeks prior to this trip. We had to almost run to make this, and by the time we got there, I was in so much pain, it was VERY hard for me to partake and enjoy this wonderful experience. The chef was wonderful, but spoke only broken english and I don't think he understood many of our questions. A guide who could translate for us would really have been wonderful. The food we made was amazing, and very very good. I wish I could have interacted more, although, I believe my family enjoyed themselves a lot. This tour ended much later than it was suppose to, and by the time we got back to our hotel, all we could do was go to sleep. We were unable to make the tour we booked for the next day because we over slept and were unable to make it to the train station to do the high speed train to Florence and Pisa. I feel they need to rework this tour. If you are told you're going to have a guide, then you should have one, and not be made to run all over Venice to get to the place you need to be. The tour overall, is not what we all expected.
It was different to what we expected, however authentic. We were welcomed into their palatial home. The husband and wife were charming and friendly, they did not speak English. The translator struggled with some English concepts but tried really hard. We were taught how to prepare tagliatelle pasta and some starters, the host encouraged us to roll it out and slice the pasta. They had prepared lots of the food ahead of time, the table was nicely set and we were offered wine and drinks. The food was awesome and plentiful. An awesome experience. Would recommend the tour.
We had a totally different experience than what was advertised. We did not get the couple from the ad, we got a chef named Lorenzo who was fairly new to these cooking classes. We got no tour of the market, no appetizers and different food from what we requested. Lorenzo graciously changed our pasta filling to cheese because we don't do mushrooms, but we were still left with cuttlefish risotto. Cuttlefish has tentacles which grossed out my daughter, lol. We had been expecting traditional beef-filled ravioli. It wasn't Lorenzo's fault--somehow Viator is bad about transmitting menu requests, I guess. For over 200.00 I would have expected some salad, hors de oeuvres, bread or something other than the couple of things we cooked--which were not very good. For the many hours we were there, we were only offered a bowl of stale crackers. Also, requests for a bathroom were ignored, or perhaps not understood because his English was not that great.
Booked tour for Dec 25 paid for it and received vouchers. Subsequently received email that they could not do it that day stated that they could do dec 26. Emailed back multiple times, at least 3 times with no response. This is very unprofessional. My son was looking forward to take a cooking class in venice and due to no response was not able to get him another class at the last minute.
The host and hostess were very friendly and hospitable, however this was not a hands-on class just a demonstration but even then we didn't see how a number of the ingredients were prepared and put together also without the aid of one of the other people in the 'class' translating, communication would have been difficult.
