Though I'm sure this was/is a standard tour the sites were most interesting and our guide very pleasant.
These were three tours tours in one day with 3 different tour guide, each of whom were native born in Venice. We started with the 9 AM Doges Palace tour and it was a trip into the seat and history of the old government and some of how they handled criminals. I enjoyed the painting and how they tried to keep power from being concentrated in too few hands.
We then took lunch and rejoined the tour of St Marks and the Venice Walking Tour. Our hotel was within 20 minutes of St. Marks Square so we knew the restaurants between the two places, The Venice walking tour was my favorite part as we walked the streets and learned how the locals really live, what are the challenges of living in this unique city.
The latter part of the afternoon was the Grand Canal boat ride. This one was good for pictures of St. Marks Square from a water view and the brides, houses on the Grand Canal. Our guide was pleasant and kept up a good flow of what we were seeing. My favorite part was at the end of the Grand Canal and the canals on the way back where we could see the back streets of the city where few tourists tread and even the gondola building shops!
If you are going to be in Venice for a short time, these tours are a great way to see and understand the city.
Amazing! My favourite part was seeing Doge's Palace. The tour guide, Anthony, said that this was his favourite place, and you could tell. He really made me want to spend more time there and see and learn more about Venice and Venisian history. He really made the tour worth going on. Thank you!
great tour and the guides were very knowledgable and delightful. a great tour for anyone with just a short stay in Venice.
Doge's Palace is a must see! Great tour - great guide, definitely worth it.
The tour guide was knowledgeable, sensitive to the group's needs, and kept the tour moving through the Palace.
The Venice Super Saver was worth every penny. BUT, a word of caution. We had two different guides. The guide for St Marks was amazing ... she was fun, knowledgeable, encouraged questions a pure delight. Our guide for the Doge's Palace was truly the worst guide we had in all of Italy. She was rude, condescending, didn't encourage questions and it appeared she hated people. Unfortunately I don't remember their names so I've posted a picture of each. The lady with the long, dark hair was fantastic the lady with the short, curly hair need to find another job. With that said, the sites were amazing and the guide we liked made up for the nasty one.
This was really three separate tours each with a different guide. All three tours were well organized with excellent guides and very worthwhile. We were able to learn a lot of the history as well as efficiently seeing the highlights. I would strongly recommend this for a single day overall look at Venice.
This tour was informative and interesting and all of the tour guides were interesting and knowledgeable. The skip the line at the Basilica was well worth it.
Very well done ! On time, very knowledgeable guide. Overall very nice tour
The tour of the Doge's Palace was amazing I learned so much, both about Venice's history and the palace itself. Daniella was very knowledgeable. Walking through the prison and over the Bridge of Sighs was very cool. The walking tour through Castello was very interesting. The boat ride was fabulous we traveled through small canals as well as the Canale Grande, and again, our guide was very informative. St. Mark's Basilica was closed that day apparently priests were being ordained, so we weren't able to see inside the basilica. This was not a problem, as I was in Venice for two weeks and could visit another day when the basilica was open. I thought this tour was really a good value, and a nice way to learn about the city's major landmarks.
The tour was excellent, we travelled on this on 15 September and our tour guide was the most fabulous BARBARA. I cannot rave enough about this lady, she brought the whole story / history to life with her amazing gusto and fabulous story telling. I am in absolute awe of her, how she did this is an amazing thing as it sounded so fresh, like she had never told the story to anyone else before us. She should be highly commended and I hope her tour company appreciates her immense efforts.
Did this tour the first full day we were in Venice, and I am so glad we did! First part morning was Doge's Palace - our guide was very knowledgeable, and spoke clearly and concisely, which is important when you are listening through headphones. She provided in-depth on he history and architecture of the Doges and the palace. Second part afternoon was St Marks/ walking tour - our guide was a native Venetian and we learned so much from her about the lay-out of the city and the daily life there. The third part was a boat tour - very relaxing way to end the day and learn more about the buildings along the Grand Canal. It was a perfect way to become oriented with the city.
This tour was really great. Our tour guides there were three really knew their stuff and made it interesting. The walking tour was a pleasant one, taking us into areas we would not have known to go. The river cruise was a real highlight as it took us around the Venice Island. Really worth doing this tour.
The Doges Palace tour and the guide were terrific. Could have spent two more hrs there. St. Marks and walking tour and guide not as good. The last part, the boat tour, guide was mediocre. We also had called the actual local tour company for help in rescheduling and found them to be rude and unhelpful.
Great way to see Venice in one day. The Doge and #39;s Palace was beautiful and the grand canal cruise was wonderful as well. Reccommended!
A good intro to Venice in a relaxed format with time off in between events.
Doge palace was amazing, the walked tour guide was hot and the boat tour only had 4 couples with the guide.
Guides were great and very organized. Headsets were helpful. The boat tour was the best part. Beautiful!
Tours were easy to find and join each time. Maria, for the Palace, and Marina, for Basilica and walking tour, were absolutely excellent. A lot of interesting information, through the filter of a resident rather than a tour book, without being info overload. You need to be outside to enjoy the boat.
Our guide was wonderful. She did not spend an extraordinary amount of time on insignificant details allowing us to spend the most amount of time on pertinent details. Additionally, she was humorous and knowledgeable.
We highly enjoyed the tour. It was very informative and the guides were really nice. If you ever want suggestions on where to eat, ask them. One of the guide suggested this little restaurant, non-touristy. The food was great, we ate there 2 nights in a row.
Very good waling tour: great amount of info about Venice, both history and present. Good presentation by the tour leader, kept it very interesting over a entire walk. The Doge's Palace tour was a little long and the leader seemed a little academic more like a lecture and we find it hard to stay with her presentation. We found the boat curse very good and excellent place for photos. Since we only had one day in Venice we packed as much into it as we could and needless to say we were quite tired doing all three items in the same day. One would enjoy more if spread out. Also a lot on the info in the Doge's tour and Walking tour were the same, esp. history of Venice. All in all I would rate the Walking tour and Boat ride as excellent and the Doge's Palace as OK.
Very knowledgeable tour guides. Be prepared to walk and walk, and go up and down tons of stairs on the walk and in the Doges palace.. If you don't like walking, the crowds and the skip the line , lines, this is not for you. You walk all over Venice to see the sites so it is a long day. It is like having three full tours in one day. I cannot stress enough how much walking is involved and your guides switch off midday. You see Doges palace and do a walking tour of Venice in which you visit St Mark's. At the end of the
day you ride the comfortable water taxi through the Grand Canal which is very nice.
