Bike Tour from Verona Including Amarone Wine Tasting in the Valpolicella Wine Country

Small-group Bike Tour in Valpolicella Wine Country Including Wine Tasting

After meeting your guide at Castelvecchio in the center of Verona in the afternoon, get outfitted with your bike and helmet. Once ready, pedal away, heading out of Verona and straight for the countryside. Once in Valpolicella, marvel at the grape vine-clad hills and the general beauty of the place. Valpolicella is well known for its wine production, ranking just after Tuscany's Chianti wine region in total Italian Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) wine production.
Ride along the country roads enjoying the views and the fresh air until you reach Musella Winery & Relais, located on the grounds of an erstwhile 16th-century villa. Step inside and get ready to sample some wine. Learn here about what the chief tasting profiles are for Valpolicella wine as well as about the winemaking heritage from the region. Sample some light and fragrant wines, which are similar to French Beaujolais wine. And then sip something quite different, the more robust amarone wine.

When the tastings are finished, pedal on your bicycle back to the center of Verona. The total bicycling distance: 12 miles (20 kilometers). This is an easy bike ride.

This was an amazing tour!! I had seen it a few months ago on Viator but kept it in the back of my mind should I return to the area. It was well worth the wait! I was traveling with two other friends and we had the tour all to ourselves it's shoulder season before the tourists really begin to arrive. Our guide, Benedetta, was so friendly and very knowledgeable about the region. She was very patient with us as we stopped to take photos, ask questions and pedaled or walked up some of the hills. The Villa Mosconi Bertani was beautiful and we had a private tour there as well. We even got to meet Signor Bertani, head wine maker for the estate. The only downside is I think the description said it included an olive oil tasting, which we didn't do. Even still, I highly recommend this tour for something unique to do and a chance to get outside the city.

Just wonderful! Enough miles to fully stretch one's legs after a long flight - along paved bike paths, scenic country roads and through charming neighborhoods. Bertani winery and grounds are stunning and offer a very generous tour and tasting. Our guide, Mike, was great - patient, helpful and always willing to assist. This is a must-do activity!

I was pleasantly surprised this was such a strong ride. We rode from the center of Verona north to a winery in the country. The bike paths were easy to navigate and the scenery was beautiful. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area. The wine tour was also really good. The villa was on a beautiful property with a long history.

We met up with the tour guide in the city center and were soon off on well maintained bicycles into the wine country. The tour took us around vineyards and kept us out of traffic for a good duration of the ride. It wasn't strenuous by any means, but we covered a good distance. The tour guide was extremely friendly and made the experience a lot of fun. We then ended up at the vineyard and enjoyed a private tour and tasting. This was one of the highlights of our trip.

The winery visit was exceptional. Would highly recommend it. The bike portion is ok if you are used to city bike riding. The impression from images was that the bike ride is somewhere in the country side. Most of the ride was however along the roads and through traffic. Would not recommend if you are not very comfortable driving next to fast moving cars and within European streets and traffic. It was not possible to hear the guide if you are couple bikes away and there was really no way to get close.

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better June 2016

Our guide got lost on the way to the vineyard and we ended up biking for 2 hours before we arrived at the vineyard.
