Our tour to Versailles was great. The Palace is beautiful and the grounds too. It was too bad that the Princess's apartment was closed for renovations but otherwise a spectacular tour. A couple issues we had though were that we were supposed to have premier access meaning not have to stand in line. The attendants monitoring the entrance seemed to be unaware of this and initially refused to let us enter without standing in the long line. Finally another attendant showed up and let us have premier access. The other issue was the audio guide equipment didn't work properly and once you are in the tour it's impossible to go back and get another audio guide. Otherwise the tour is highly recommended. Allow 5-6 hours to get through the palace and walk the grounds, so recommend getting there early.
The ticket was a very good value. We took the RER C-I think from right around the corner from our apartment. The train ride was easy and relatively short, and it was pretty easy to find the chateau from the train station. We were very happy that the ticket included audio, because the audio clips in each room made the visit so much more meaningful. The rooms were all very crowded, but it didn't keep us from seeing what we wanted. It was very interesting to see just how 'over the top' every detail of every room was - especially while so much of France was starving. No wonder the final royal couple lost their heads!
My grand Daughter loved the Palace of Versailles but dont use viator to buy your tickets - for us it was a waste of money - although the tickets said entry to the Palace they were not honoured and we had to line up and buy more tickets - my grand daughter is sick so we wanted to not have to waste time in a line - the Palace is a must see - a wonderful day out
Thank you, your follow up to my booking and our visit to Versailles were faultless!
We knew we would not be able to see everything in one day, so bought a two day passport. This was good value for money. The queue to get into the Palace was very long but moved fairly quickly.
beautiful place and we were able to walk on our own and explore!
Just what you'd expect. Nothing special. Didn't skip any lines, but it was good to have planned ahead and to have purchased the tickets in advance.
Prepaid tickets were great as the queue quickly built up to buy on the day. This ticket enabled us to visit all parts of Versailles and the Audio guide was fantastic. The only extra we paid for eur5 pp was the Petite Train which was great to cover most of Versailles and that was our choice you could walk if you want to.
No problems with ticket. No queue cutting so get there early!! Gardens gorgeous, recommend hiring a buggy especially if going to see the trianons as well. Time your visit with the fountains being on as so much better.
So we heard all of these horror stories about the lines, the queues, being hours long. Here is a valuable tip that we found accidentally. Go to Versailles during off season, like early to mid-March prior to Easter, do a half day tour in the afternoon, and go in the early part of the week. There was absolutely no line!! We walked up, picked up our headsets, and made our way through Versailles, and the gardens, within a 3 hour window of time. Amazing. You will run into some groups It seemed like the time of year Asian tours were flourishing, but it was the best experience. This goes for the catacombs in Paris as well. Granted, for you warm weather travelers, this time of year might not be for you, but it is the best time to see Versailles Palace. Don't expect a lot in the gardens, as the trees are not in bloom yet, but you can still appreciate the acres they occupy, and the statues are beautiful.
We were a group of 10 and enjoyed our time visiting Versailles. The fountain/musical show was superb!
Although there were many, many, tourist, it did not seem crowded. The skip-the-line passport tickets were
awesome. We didn't spend even 30 minutes in the line. It was a glorious day!
good deal for the money! Nice to minimize the wait times in line although we were there on a cool, rainy Thursday in late August so lines weren't that long anyway. Audio tour was a good choice in the package and enhanced the informational enjoyment of the day. Didn't get to see everything ticket entitled us to due to being cold, wet and tired from trip over. Spectacular palace and grounds! All overwhelmingly opulent to the point it is almost too much to absorb or appreciate. Would recommend this deal if going.
I found it helpful to have purchased the ticket in advance, although there was still a long line. Once we got into the Palace, everything went very smoothly. The audio presentation was very insightful. We were there during the peak season early June, so the tour of the Palace was very crowded. The expansive grounds, the Trianons, and the Hameau were far less crowded and I'm glad we purchased the package that included them.

You skip only the tiny ticket line not the massive security line. I recommend going before 8:30 in order to have a relatively shorter line. The only way to skip the security line is to go on a group tour. Apart from that, the palace is absolutely fabulous.
This feature when entering into the Palace of Versailles was fabulous. We arrived first thing in the morning and was told the line looked to be approximately 90 minutes long. We went in by skipping the line right away. We wanted to see it all or as much as possible. Although we had to pay to get into the gardens, they are separate. We were able to view the other buildings and their gardens. Beautiful day all the way around.
Versailles visit was excellent, you could easily spend the whole day there. Rent a golf cart or take the mini train to save time, there's a lot if walking but worth it!
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour of palace and gardens. The commentary was very informative. Must see in Paris
This tour was great! There was so much to see at Versailles and it was a lot of walking. Getting our tickets ahead of time helped a little bit, but there was still a very long line and we got there 10 minutes after it opened 9:10 am. We waited in line about 1/2 hour before going through security and by the time we were entering, the line had almost tripled behind us. So I recommend getting there as early as possible! The gardens were beautiful and we loved walking through all the rows and discovering new areas. We bought tickets to the Trianons as well and didn't even get over there because we were exhausted. Versailles is just very large and there is so much to see!
