What You Can Expect

Versailles Gardens Segway Tour

Take the scenic route and explore Versailles on two wheels

Choose a departure time and meet your guide by the Grand Canal of Versailles within the Domain Versailles. Get comfortable with your Segway with an orientation session conducted by your guide. These self-balancing personal transportation devices give you the ability to cover more ground easily and comfortably – and they're fun to ride, too.
Begin your tour with a ride through Versailles Park. Glide along the Grand Canal of this UNESCO-listed site, listening to informative commentary from your guide. See attractions such as the Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon – Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette's private retreats, respectively – as well as the Queen's Hamlet and the king's stables. Your guide will point out other notable buildings as you ride along.
Stop for views of the Versailles Palace, where you can take pictures while you listen to your guide talk about Louis XIV's visions of grandeur that compelled him to develop and enhance this extravagant palace.
After the Segway tour is over, you are welcome to visit the Palace of Versailles on your own (own expense, palace is closed on Mondays).

I had been to Versailles before but never explored the gardens. The segway tour does not go through the formal gardens but rather the park further back. We went on the weekend and had to pay a separate fee to enter the gardens but the whole thing was so worth it! The formal gardens are amazing and since it was the weekend the fountains were on. It was spectacular. The segway portion was an area we never would have visited but added so much to the experience and our guide shared lots of information about Versaille and its residents!
