After morning pickup from your Victoria hotel, travel with your photographer-guide for about 19 miles (30 km) outside of the city to begin your hike inside Gowlland Tod Park. Remember to wear hiking boots or good hiking/running shoes (no sandals please), and a light jacket, depending on weather.

Upon arrival at the park, start with a steady 15-minute climb before the trail plateaus, giving you a nice view of Finlayson Arm, the fjord that juts into Vancouver Island near Victoria.

Walk through Arbutus and grand fir trees, as your trek resumes uphill. Then, leave the main trail and descend to a rock platform. The last stretch gets you to the top, or about 1,400 feet (430 meters) above sea level. On clear days you can see Finlayson Arm, the small mountains in front of Victoria, the Juan De Fuca Strait, and the Olympic Mountains in Washington State.

You’ll cover 3.6 miles (6 km) and 650 feet (200 meters) of elevation gain. Along the way, hear historical background from your guide. Your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel, and you will be emailed a professional-level photo of your hiking journey.

5 star rating: Highly Recommended December 2017

This was by far one of the best tours our family has experienced! The guide, Mark, was fantastic and extremely attentive to our safety and to making sure we were having a good time. Although I thought the hike was challenging could be because I am a bit out of shape...too many great pastries here in Victoria, the rest of my family had no issues with the hike/climb up and down the mountain. The scenery was beautiful, and the pictures that we were able to get were priceless. I honestly can't say enough about this tour except to do it...you won't regret it! Cheers to you Mark for the highlight of our trip to lovely Victoria, British Columbia.
