Day trip usually takes 13 Hours (sometimes more depending on traffic and weather) We definitely do a trip to Halsttat again.
I know Hallstatt is very far from Vienna and there is always a time limit.
Just be prepare for the long drive to and from Hallstatt.

Great trip but much longer than the description claims

Hallstatt was beautiful and the tour guide was great. I would definitely recommend taking a trip out to this beautiful lake town if you have time! However, the description says 8-10 hours which is not at all true. The trip was about 14 hours from departure to return which was not communicated until we were already on the bus.

Amazing snow covered magical town!

The trip was great. It continued to snow the whole time we were there and we had no access to the world heritage sky walk nor the option to ride on a boat on the lake, but our guide was proactively finding things we could do. Our guide (I guess his name was Mr. Awald?) was very informative and witty and funny and kind. The place itself is amazing. Even though we couldn't see the peak of the Alpines due to the fog, but the snow made it look all magical.

Very nice trip, and would recommend a tour of the salt mine while there. Unfortunately, most store were closed although it was a weekday and we arrived at noon. Nevertheless, interesting place to see.

The boat trip, going up the mountain to admire the view, the 3 hour we got to ourselves to enjoy the city and also the tour information was interesting. It was lovely going in Fall because all the colors in the trees and the weather was cool, not too hot or cold.

The bus tour started early (about 7am) and we returned about 8pm. We had several rest stops on the way to Hallstatt and arrived about noon. The small village was just as advertised - very picturesque and set at the base of a mountain range right on a huge lake. The tour guide walked us to the center of town and we boarded a boat for a ride around the lake(great opportunity for pictures of the village). After the trip we had a few hours to have lunch and explore Hallstatt. Be prepared for a long day…but the village was well worth the travel time.

Not reliable on hotel picking up

When we booked this tour, it was offered to pick up directly from our hotel but last min got email with cancelling pick us from hotel after they already charged the tour fee. We have to pay both extra Uber fee to get to the meeting point for both ways. It’s like we couldn’t cancel the tour because they notified you the day before. Also was expecting a small group but ended up it’s big bus with 50 people… Be aware before booking!

This was a great one day trip from Vienna to Hallstatt. The tour guide was very nice and he gave us a lot of historical information about Hallstatt, the history of the city and how it came to be, as well as about different places on our way to and from Hallstatt. The only thing I had to complain about was the food stops. We stopped two times for food and bathroom rests, once on our way to Hallstatt and once when coming back. Both times we stopped at a Landzeit restaurant. I know that I am kind of picky when it comes to food, but the lunch/dinner food in the afternoon was kind of bad. In the morning it was okayish, but in the afternoon was really bad. Other than that everything was great. Again great tour guide and the driver of the tour bus was very nice and skilled as well (we got a lot of rain on our way back but he managed that greatly).

Perfect daytrip, guide, destination and overall experience. The trip starts with a lengthy bus trip, where the knowledgeable and surprisingly entertaining guide spoke at length about the historical background, regional and national importance of Hallstatt. We made pit stops at nice venues. Arrived in Hallstatt well informed so as to enable a breathtaking and effective walk-about. It was exhaustingly beautiful. I have no complaints, and no suggestions how to make it better, other than do it for free and promote the guide to salt gentleman and give him more money.

Great hotel pickup option Very punctual Guide (Eva) knowledgeable, approachable and professional - great Guide! She catered for us not wanting to visit the town but went to the salt mines right after the boat trip to Hallstadt (we made it just in time!) Morning option for breakfast - excellent Afternoon dinner option - rubbish salad bar ( only bad point really) Overall an excellent day trip and a memorable experience

Beautiful Day in the Alps and on the Lake

The bus ride through the countryside with view of the Alps was lovely. The guide gave us descriptions of the sites we were seeing in Vienna and on the road. I skipped the walking tours and just enjoyed the cruise around the lake-it was a beautiful day. We saw a pair of swans with their 6 cygnets swimming nearby! I got off and feed the ducks. The stops for Breakfast and Dinner were at a wonderful Austrian themed restaurant. that also had snacks. All around a great day!

The tour guide was great explain the history of this beautiful place. Hallstatt is exactly as you see in the pictures. Bring a umbrella or raincoat because it tends to rain a lot. And have cash with you since they don't take credit card unless you spend more than 10€. And coins to pay for the public bathroom.
