What You Can Expect

Meet your guide, a fellow foodie, in central Vienna to begin your food-inspired walking tour and head straight for your first destination – a traditional coffee house. Sample a typical Viennese coffee and hear about the city’s famous coffee culture as you enjoy your morning caffeine fix.

Continue to the Naschmarkt, which has been Vienna’s busiest market since the 16th-century, and soak up the atmosphere as you stroll around the myriad stalls. Listen as your guide points out traditional ingredients and seasonal products, and get chance to taste delicious Austrian cheeses and locally produced vinegars. You might even opt to purchase some picnic supplies or edible souvenirs to take away with you.

Next, get a taste of Vienna’s street food with a stop at a popular Würstelstand, where you can try a range of Viennese sausages and side dishes. Of course, no meal is complete with a glass of wine, so the next stop will be at a wine cellar to sample three different Austrian wines.

Your gastronomic adventure isn’t over yet – there’s still time to stop by a local butcher shop for some tasty Austrian bacon and ham, indulge your sweet tooth at a traditional bakery, and visit an artisan chocolate shop.

Finally, with your appetite sated and plenty of recommendations for where to eat in the city from your guide, your tour ends on Postgasse or Gumpendorfer Strasse in central Vienna.

A food tour is such a good way of finding out about the culture and history of a city. Really enjoyed this tour. The guide was interesting and knowledgeable and I love the fact that you get to visit places you just wouldn't find otherwise.

This tour is well worth it. What an introduction to local foods! Our guide Lucas took us to a market, bakery, coffee house, candy store, chocolate shop among other places to sample foods and wines. The scenery is beautiful, the food plentiful and the 4 hours fly by.

What a wonderful tour! Lucas was really friendly, enthusiastic and a real foodie. We were lucky to have him to ourselves, which made it even more personal. The highlight had to be the exclusive wine tasting thank you!

Lucas was a FANTASTIC tour guide. He is a Viennese local/native and is also a chef. He went out of his way to make sure we had a great tour. I would absolutely recommend him. I've done a food tour before in Paris, so I had an idea of what to expect. My 80-year-old dad, however, was very skeptical about the whole idea of the tour. He said: Why do I need to go on a food tour? Are we just going to go from restaurant to restaurant? What's so great about that? He ended up LOVING IT! In fact when I asked him at the end of our 3-week European vacation what his favorite parts were, he said this tour was one of the highlights of the entire trip!

I read some of the other reviews of this tour and a few were

We very much enjoyed our Vienna food tour. Lucas took us to a variety of shops and cafes and we were able to sample many really tasty treats! Lucas was great explaining the history of the bakery, butcher shop, coffee house, Naschmakt, and much more. We appreciated that Lucas obviously loves sharing information about Viennese food and was happy to recommend some restaurants and sights to see.

We had a very enjoyable day with loads of food tasting, walking and sight seeing. The only thing I would say is we were hoping to get a little more history of the place as we went along but legally he wasn't allowed to disclose anything about anything other than food. It was a fab day though and worthy if doing.
