Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart and filming location of ‘The Sound of Music’, is a visual feast of Alpine beauty. Enhance your experience of Salzburg’s natural landscapes on this private 12-hour tour from Vienna, which includes stops at Lake Attersee and St. Gilgen. Admire Austria’s lake district; stroll around the gloriously Baroque village of St. Gilgen; and take a guided tour of Salzburg’s Old Town, home to St. Peter’s Abbey and the Mozart Residence. Hotel pickup and drop-off in Vienna are included.
Kick off your private tour with pickup at your Vienna accommodation, where you’ll board a private air-conditioned vehicle destined for the natural splendor of Salzburg. During the 3-hour drive, you’ll travel through the Vienna Woods, forested uplands that were originally the hunting grounds of Viennese royalty, and the Austrian lake district.
Stop to capture photographs beside the charming Lake Attersee and then proceed to St. Gilgen, a beautifully Baroque village that features regularly in ‘The Sound of Music’ — admire St. Gilgen’s chapel and Mozart Square before you arrive in Salzburg.
Undoubtedly Austria’s second city, Salzburg is a cultural treasure trove synonymous with Mozart, music, and mountains. Marvel at the city’s grand architecture, which includes Mirabell Palace and Gardens (Mirabellschloss und Garten), Mozart Residence (Mozart Wohnhaus), and St. Peter’s Abbey (Stift Sankt Peter).
Then, following a stroll around Salzburg Old Town, you’ll return to your Vienna accommodation and bid your guide farewell.

Peter was a helpful, patient and kind guide/driver. We are happy that we were able to make the journey to Salzburg, Melk, and Hallstatt. Very pleasant and enjoyable.
Our trip from Vienna to Salzburg and back with driver Peter was fabulous! Can't say enough good things about our experience. Our family of 3 enjoyed the day with Peter while he narrated much about Austria, its history and the sights we drove by. Our local guide in Salzburg was also very good.
This was a great day trip from Vienna with very knowledgeable guides and beautiful sights.
We were picked up on time. It was a long day, stopping at Halstatt, then to Salzburg. Wish we had more time at Salburg than the 2 hours as there were more to see.
