The drive to Salzburg alone is spectacular, passing lakes and mountains, and stopping to eat and snap photos, including at Lake Mondsee. In Salzburg, you must try Mozartkugel, a chocolate praline filled with nougat and pistachio marzipan. Make sure you get the original by Fürst and not an imitation!

Great tour for my husband and son. Originally, all four of us were booked but my daughter felt ill as we waited for the bus to leave the Opera House so we exited the bus and didn't take the tour. The tour company was so understanding and refunded us for the two seats. On the way to Salzburg, the bus stopped at Lake Mondsee --beautiful views. In Salzburg, great walking tour with the guide. The bus was divided into groups so even though there were lots of people on the tour, the guided tour was more intimate. My husband and son had enough time on their own to take the funicular up and view the sights from the top of Hohensalzburg Fortress. Also went to the Cathedral. Long but great day. Highly recommend.
Excellent guide, excellent driver, enjoyable all the way, the site is incredible, fantastic way of remembering a great movie and actors, some gone, others here. The sights, Mozart, the history truly enjoyable. Do take a good pair of shoes, and an umbrella, you may need it, 8 city in the world with more rain.
This tour was amazing!
Our guide Thomas was very knowledgeable and was a great character. He told us facts during the journey and during the walking tour he gave lots of suggestions of what we could do with our spare time.My only issue was that we didn and #39;t have time to do all of them!
It is a long day- a lot of time on bus!
Tour went very smoothly, exceeded my expectations. Would highly recommend to anyone who wish to take a tour from Vienna to Salzburg.
Fantastic day trip. Enjoyed the beautiful scenery on the 3 hour bus ride, even got to stop briefly in the Lake District for some pictures. Salzburg is amazing but you have so little time, so it just gives you the idea that you want to return and stay for a while. We climbed to the top of the fortress and paid the entrance fee. Again, not enough time but it was an amazing view of the city and the area.
Tour was a nice combination of guided and free time in Salzburg. The transportation from Vienna was in a very clean, comfortable two story bus. Planned, scheduled stops allowed time for rest room breaks, scenic views and restaurant breaks.
Saltzburg and The Sound of Music. The lake is spectacular and is 200 meters deep. But is just one of the many beautiful lakes and hills in Saltzburg area. The fountain is in the Old City next to the Cathedral. Vienna was the political center while Saltzburg was the religious center. The ruler was the Catholic Archbishop. Saltzburg was an independent state from 800 to 1816 when became part of Hapsburg Empire. Each aristocrat had his own musician which explains why was such a musical city!
It was great but its a long trip
lovely trip, good journey , the castle must be visited as the views are fabulous
