Why Our Insiders Chose This Tour

The drive to Salzburg alone is spectacular, passing lakes and mountains, and stopping to eat and snap photos, including at Lake Mondsee. In Salzburg, you must try Mozartkugel, a chocolate praline filled with nougat and pistachio marzipan. Make sure you get the original by Fürst and not an imitation!

Tour was a nice combination of guided and free time in Salzburg. The transportation from Vienna was in a very clean, comfortable two story bus. Planned, scheduled stops allowed time for rest room breaks, scenic views and restaurant breaks.

Saltzburg and The Sound of Music. The lake is spectacular and is 200 meters deep. But is just one of the many beautiful lakes and hills in Saltzburg area. The fountain is in the Old City next to the Cathedral. Vienna was the political center while Saltzburg was the religious center. The ruler was the Catholic Archbishop. Saltzburg was an independent state from 800 to 1816 when became part of Hapsburg Empire. Each aristocrat had his own musician which explains why was such a musical city!

This was an awesome trip - only problem was the tour guide Sonya - who was the most unpleasant and rude person. She picked on one girl and said some very derogatory and embarrassing things over the speaker. We all made jokes about it to cover our displeasure.
The tour was through beautiful mountains with chalets and the tour of the fortress was really worth it. There is a restaurant at the top of the fortress with an unending view - and we wished we had known about it before eating down in the town. This tour was so good I would take it again with a new tour guide

I chose this because my flight left at 6:30 the next morning and I needed a simple and reliable way to see something other than Vienna. Exactly as advertised. A day trip is not sufficient for Salzburg and the area, but if it's all the time you have this is the way to do it. The Guide Ava was superb, and the ride comfortable and scenic.

Trip was fantastic! Tour guide was very informative and funny. I would recommend staying longer in Salzburg than just a day. Also, if you like shopping, don't go on Sunday -most stores are closed. Trip was great to see the highlights!
