What To Expect

Your tour begins with pickup from your central Vienna hotel or the State Opera. Meet your expert guide and hop aboard your coach to begin your day trip to Salzburg.

Soak up incredible views from the windows as you travel, passing the landscape of lakes and mountains where Emperor Franz Joseph and his family used to holiday. Pause at Lake Mondsee for photos before reaching Salzburg and enjoying some free time for lunch.

Afterward, explore the Old Town on a walking tour. Pass the Festival Hall, the Cathedral and St. Peter’s Abbey, as your guide explains the stories behind these historical sites and how the city became a bishop’s seat. You also learn about the city’s most famous resident, Wolfgang Mozart, who was born in Salzburg and lived in the city until his late teens. As you walk through the busy shopping streets, spot the prolific composer’s home at no. 9 Getreidegasse.

Admire the gardens as you continue through Mirabell Palace, where several scenes from 'The Sound of Music' were filmed. Pass the statue of Pegasus, the same statue that Maria and the children famously danced around while singing ‘Do-Re-Mi.’

Your Salzburg day trip concludes with a scenic drive back to Vienna, passing through the Fortress Hohensalzburg, one of the largest medieval castles in Europe. You are dropped off at the Vienna State Opera.

Exactly what I wanted and expected!
RoseMarie_J, Mar 2022
I was very satisfied with the trip, exactly what I expected. It’s a long day because Salzburg is rather far, but we took a break each way. I was happy with the driver and the guide, I’m sorry, whose name escapes me. But overall, very good!
Memorable experience

Great way to see this beautiful country and Salzburg itself is truly a place to visit. I had lunch at Bazaar and recommend it highly. The host Helena was very knowledgeable and provided a wonderful tour. Thank you for a memorable day.

A food guided trip for adults. Less free time to explore on your own with the kids. Packed schedule and travel.

Jaky_R, Sep 2022
They advised as a small group, 26 people is not a small group. The bus stopped so many times and we didn't have enough time at Salzburg.
Great Tour!!!

Great experience!

We enjoyed the day trip very much! It wasn’t rushed and had time for ourselves to walk around after guided tour.
An amazing day in Salzburg!
Dharshini_M, Jul 2022
I booked this trip at the last minute and glad I did. Our guide was wonderful with sharing a lot of information not just in Salzburg but about Vienna overall. I felt safe with the bus driver as well. They ensured we were all well taken cared off and it was important for me as I was doing this tour solo without my family. My only feedback was I would have preferred a single language tour, i.e. English versus a mix of Spanish/English. I didn't realize that the tour was based on dual language but honestly, as long as I had the information, I was fine.
Salzburg 2022

Great trip, friendly guide and driver, great scenery and the city was fantastic! Many great things to see there and it’s very walkable.
Nice day trip to Salzburg.
Cristina_P, Dec 2021
I was late because my UBER was canceled a couple times and they were nice to call me a wait for me. We were 5 people in total in a Van we stopped a couple times in our way to Salzbourg and once on our way back. Very enjoyable trip. My only suggestion would be to improve the microphone system inside the Van because it was difficult to listen to the tour guide.

Very bad
Iryna_M, Oct 2022
The guide was speaking so quiet, that it was impossible to hear her. It was very boring. Waste of my time and money.
Salzburg is a lovely city but the tour wasn't worth the money
Claire_C, May 2022
Salzburg was a lovely city. However, the tour was not organized in a way that could maximize our enjoyment of it and honestly did not feel worth the money we paid for it. The tour guide was nice enough but I did not find a lot of his explanations to be helpful... there were more comments on shops/restaurants (that looked VERY tourist trap-y) and not a lot about the actual history/fun facts about the city. It also sucked that his explanations in Spanish seemed a lot more detailed than his English commentary. The tour bus was VERY spacious and comfortable (with charging ports but no wifi unfortunately). What bugged me was that we drove too quickly past anything worth looking at - for example, the cathedral from the wedding in Sound of Music. Barely had a few seconds to look at it each time we passed by from a distance. I believe this is because larger tour buses are unable to travel in the smaller streets of the city. We had about two hours of free time after the "guided tour" of Salzburg, but it was barely enough time to eat lunch and see one attraction (we chose to check out Mozart's residence/birthplace but wish we had enough time to see the Salzburg Cathedral or go up to the Fortress). I noticed some of these attractions had "group" discounts so it was a shame that entrance to some of these were not organized by the tour guide. I think if we are ever given the chance to see Austria again, we will save the money from this kind of trip to buy direct train tickets to Salzburg and buy entrance into the other attractions that we missed out on.

Great tour
Vanessa_G, Jul 2022
A beautiful place to visit. The guide was great, she explained everything about Salzburg and Vienna. On the way we saw the lake and a lot of beautiful parts.
Lovely Salzburg
Valerie_S, Oct 2022
Enjoyed the lake region, Old Town Salzburg and visiting the lovely churches. Charming shops, cafes and historic markets.
Would definitely recommend this tour to Mozart fans - but not to The Sound of Music fans!
Magdalene_C, Jul 2022
I enjoyed the trip as a whole, except for the guide shattering the myths surrounding The Sound of Music. It was nice to see the house in which Mozart grew up.
