Franz was an informative guide, presenting the information with a side of fun and comedy. It made for a more enjoyable tour but still filled with the history of the family. At this time of year, the Christmas market in front is a nice extra! Enjoyable, even in the cold!
thank you for the time you dedicated to give us a short feedback on our Skip the Line: Schonbrunn Palace Guided Tour in Vienna with our guide Franz Josef. And thank you for rating us with 5 stars, wow! Some humor and fun is necessary to have on tour to keep our guests interested and entertained! :) It is always a pleasure to hear when our guests recommend our tours since it shows us that our guides do their jobs correctly and with passion.
We hope that you enjoyed your time in Vienna even though it was very cold! We hope to see you again on our other tours in the future!
My husband normally HATES guided tours. Well, this tour was the exception, all due to our hilarious, knowledgeable and entertaining guide, Franz. Franz was able to weave fantastically interesting tidbits into his tour of the Schonbrunn palace that kept us engrossed. We left wanting more. You will learn so much about the Hapburg dynasty, and life in Vienna under Kaiser Franz Joseph & Sisi. Fabulous! A+, Franz! Thank you!
Hello, thank you for your quite personal review. It is a pleasure to hear that we could convince your husband that guided tours can be interesting and fun as well. Schönbrunn Palace does indeed worth to visit again as it is not only one of Austrias main highlights but as it has a vast variety of interesting facts.
So maybe hope to see you again on a tour with Franz Josef ;-)
We had an excellent, knowledgeable guide lady who took time to answer any questions. We started our tour in the gardens and then entered the castle at precisely the correct time! The castle was stunning inside, but we only went through a few rooms on the first floor where Maria Theresa and family lived. I was too tired to make the trek up to the Gloriette, but they do offer small train rides. My daughter hiked back, about a half mile I think it is, and took some gorgeous pictures of the castle from there. It was your standard guided tour, but I can recommend it. Just be prepared to do a lot of walking.
thank you so much for your great review of our Schönbrunn Palace tour. It is always great to hear such lovely words of appreciation from our customers. Your interest in Austrian history is also wonderful to hear. We are also happy to forward your kind words to your tourguide, an indeed very competent and experienced guide with whom we are glad to work with.
At the beginning we mention exactly which rooms are shown on the highlight tour and unfortunately they do not contain all the rooms, as there would not be time enough. But you can believe us that you see the best selected highlight ones on the tour.
Because of the size of the garden, we always start by pointing out that the entire area is over 180 hectares. Therefore, one can walk pretty and stroll extensively through the garden. As mentioned you will be rewarded with a great view of the Gloriette.
It wasn't the fault of the guide. The day we booked our visit it was a stifling 38 degrees Celsius outside and we didn't even go inside the Palace because the guide said it was even hotter inside because no windows or doors would be opened. As we were REALLY feeling the effects of the heat, after visiting the Schonbrunn Zoo next to the Palace, it was a health/welfare decision to not go inside. It's a shame because it looked so beautiful from the outside and it was obviously too late to cancel.
as mentioned it was not our guides fault. We experienced one of the hottest summer this year. Our cancellation deadline is 24 hours prior to the tour and we can't reimburse tours due to weather conditions. Thank you for the understanding.
Great tour! Our tour guide was excellent! Very knowledgeable about Vienna history and the palace. It would be even better if Tour guide can be mindful of the weather (our tour started at 3pm and it was scorching. We baked in the sun while he prepped us for 10 min). Worth a visit!
we appreciate your feedback and are delighted to hear that you loved the Schönbrunn Palace Tour!
Although very sorry, that you had to bake a little bit in the sun! I guess: Guests "well done" =)
Usually we try our best to keep our clients out of the sun and look for shade as much as we can! Still, we are very happy about your 5-Star review! Thank you <3 and we hope you enjoyed the rest of your holidays in Vienna!

I would definitely recommend visiting the palace but I wasn't too impressed with the guided tour. I think just using the audio guide here is easier and better. Plus it gives you more flexibility on when to visit.
The actual tour of the palace and the garden was great. Marvelous avenues in the garden. Beautiful rooms inside the palace. Guide very skilled at bringing the family story behind the rooms alive. The downside of the tour was the logistics employed in getting us to the palace. We met in central Vienna and took the subway to the palace - all of which took 90 minutes. I certainly had not picked that up when selecting the tour. I would have much preferred to make my own way to the venue
Good points - The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly and the palace is very beautiful. Bad points - you have to meet in the centre of vienna at 2.30pm upon which you take a guided walking tour before getting on the underground to go to the palace, this is not mentioned when booking. Upon arrival at the palace there was no line to skip! We didn't enter the palace until 4pm and the tour lasts approx 1 hour, unfortunately at this time of year Nov when you leave it is dark so no chance to look around the gardens as they are not lit up. It's a shame we had to do guided walking tour around vienna centre first as if we had started palace tour at 2.30pm or even 3pm as suggested in tour details we would of had a chance to look around the gardens before it got dark.
